Way overpriced. Changed rooms 3 times. Cooler in halls than in bedrooms. First room stunk and was moldy, second room had now shower and no elevator to get to it. Meal was entirely overpriced and they tried to pass their wine off when I had asked for something else. Hotel very dated.

The hotel is located out of Palermo city - in the Aqua Santa area. However there are regular free shuttle buses that take you into town and back - these need to be booked in advance - there are approx. 8 seats so book as soon as you can. We usually took the bus into town, spent the day and then walked back - takes about 1 hour. The walk was fine and helps you get a real picture of Palermo and its diversity. The hotel service was very good - especially Rosa Maria at reception, who was very efficient and helpful. The pool area is lovely and the view over the bay and marina was spectacular. Breakfast was comprehensive and also had traditional Sicilian specialities such as almond granita and cannoli. Delicious. The pool bar is expensive but you're paying for the view. Just 5 minutes walk from the hotel, we found a supermarket, a pasticceria (wonderful pastries) and two restaurants, all excellent. My only issue (minor) is with the room, there doesn't seem to be an efficient way of dealing with steam from the bathroom and so everything was slightly damp and initially it did have a musty smell. The hotel building and grounds are superb, in the most glorious belle epoque style - truly unique. By the way we found a great service from the airport to the hotel - www.adriannaviaggi.it - 38 euros (the hotel quoted us 60). Husband and wife team who delivered an exceptional service in a top of the range car.
We also took advantage of the hotel bus to Mondello beach - 10 euros per day. Lovely beach - whitish sand and crystal clear water.

Just got back from Igeia.Booking was a mess with expedia.Paid a fortune and we were told we only paid for single occupancy.Spent half of time on our phone trying to straighten out.Phone in room at Igeia never worked.Way overpriced,100 u.s. dollars 2 burgers 1 sandwich 3 beers???Only meal I ate there.Breakfast buffet was good, room clean.A.C. not great.Had to change keys 3 times a day.Internet service only in front of main desk where you could hear alot of complaints.People asking if store ect near by.staff said no,not true.Nice grocery not a block away.I told many other guests and they were thankfull.Chicken shack down the road had excellent food, alot of local business.Palermo is filthy.garbage stinking everywhere.Thank goodness we found a very high price cab driver to take us all over island.shuttle we booked twice and when we went downstairs to get on they said they didnt have our reservation...would not recomend hotel or expedia.Go to Prague, stay in Roma, fantastic city

Room Tip: dont stay here

Beautiful hotel by the Sea. First Class hotel with amenities. The best hotel in Palermo. But Palermo is full of cars, people and trash. Still buildings bombed in the WWII. You can't leave your car on the street because it will be stolen in minutes.

pros:

breath taking views, garden like atmosphere outside
spectacular breakfast with great outdoor seating and views
food in hotel generally very tasty, VERY yummy desserts.
great bath tub with excellent water pressure
free bottled water upo request
friendly and helpful staff
known to be the best hotel in palermo - and this is probably true, palermo is a sort of a dump.
marcello - the yacht captain of the hotel took me and two family members out on a great local private cruise around the island for the whole day for a reasonable price of 500 euros - he and his helper were very gentlemanly and chivalrous like, very knowledgeable and hospitable, 3 women and we felt totally safe with them. they served us a lovely lunch on the boat with prosecco.
usually very good restaurant recs from concierge staff
bbc world news available

cons:

the hotel simply does not have functional wi-fi and I don't care what anyone says the wi fi is rubbish!

at check out they tried to charge me for an extra 150 euros for dinner I did not have at the hotel, after about 15 mins of arguing (when I could have been eating the lovely breakfast on my last morning) they finally agreed that they had made a mistake by confusing me with some other arabs staying at the hotel (racist much?)not much of an apology after this had happened and they acknowledged the mistake, not impressed with this aspect of service

bedsheets are not very soft, definitely not egyptian cotton let's put it that way

only about 2 people at front desk/ concierge at any given moment, making it a bit of a wait if you want to ask someone something

you need to take a cab to get anywhere worth seeing, the tratorria down the road is first of all, as the previous person wrote - a dangerous walk - and- its crap, very dirty looking - couldn't bring myself to eat there it was that bad.

hotel pool is on the small side (but i guess thats Europe?) and doesn't get much sun in the late afternoon. never even bothered to swim here - always went to the lovely beaches (mondello, san vito lo capo, cefalu)

my room door was a bit dodgy - had to sort of shut a few times to make sure it would lock properly

old carpet in room

the hotel was unable to supply us with adapters

Room Tip: worth it to get superior room - you get a great tub. check your itemised bill on check out with a microscope and save any receipts that you sign for!!!
