This is a fun and easy place to stay in Palermo, especially if you are using the bus or train. The breakfast was tasty and plentiful, the bathroom was modern and spacious, and the room with the 4 poster bed had a balcony overlooking a small street that is filled with bicycle shops. Don't be put off by the imposing doors or semi chaotic feel nearby because its a classy environment once you get inside. If you have mobility issues, there is a lot of stairs - but then again, this is Palermo Sicily, not Portland Oregon. It comes with the territory.

Quite a few historical buildings and beautiful churches nearby, and you will come across street markets when you wander the alleys and lanes. The area has plenty of places to eat and drink, and the ocean is an easy walk any time of day. Be warned the main museum is closed for renovations, but don't let that deter you. Palermo is a great town for the seasoned traveler and La via delle Biciclette is a fine place to call home while you are there.

Room Tip: I believe they have a room that sleeps 4 and a room that sleeps 2

We stayed here for just one night on our last night in Sicily, and we wish we'd stayed longer. We arrived into Palermo train station in the late afternoon, and to be honest it was all a bit of a shock to the system being back in a city after being on sleepy Salina. We made our way to Via delle biciclette, which is actually quite a short walk, and were a bit nervous about what we'd find behind the big old doors on this bustling bicycle street, but wow, what a place. There's a really grand entrance, with quite a few flights of stairs leading up to Manuela and Manlio's stunningly put together, immaculate apartment; like I said in the subject, I wish it were mine! Once we were inside Manuela gave us a drink, explained the keys and then pulled out a map and started giving us a run down of everything we should do: the night market is here, this is where you must try the local speciality of spleen (seriously, sounds weird but try it, delicious), here's a good restaurant, this is where you can have a nice evening promenade etc etc. So off we went! The next morning, Manuela and Manlio's breakfast was excellent, and again they gave us another great recommendation for what we should do with the two hours before we had to catch the bus to the airport - a nearby antiques market which runs every Sunday, great fun. I think that without M & M 's genuine, local's recommendations (sometimes you feel B&B owners are just giving you recommendations of places to eat etc so they get a referrals bonus, but not here), we would have felt quite lukewarm about Palermo; they really brought it to life for us.

Room Tip: We had the room with the separate (still private) bathroom, the one with the four poster in the pics...

We stayed here the first couple of nights of a Sicilian holiday, and it really was the perfect introduction. The hosts are so welcoming and helpful, the location is central and the building itself has a great atmosphere. Within a few minutes' walk you can be at the central station, the seafront and many great restaurants. Breakfast is a relaxed affair, excellent coffee and other treats to set you up for the joys of Palermo. Very highly recommended!

What a difference a fantastic B&B makes... This for me was perfect. Above all the Palermitani hosts, Manlio and Manuela, who were friendly, chatty (tolerating my Italian) and informative. The room was quiet and in a very old and vast palazzo in a narrow street where everyone does indeed sell bicycles. Close to everywhere you want to go. Also I found Palermo cultural, charming and not at all worrying. Hesitant to tell the world about this place, feel should be kept a secret.

Our second trip to Sicily and Palermo. This was a great B&B with friendly helpful hosts, who managed to help us get tickets for Madame Butterfly at Teatro Massimo on our first night.

Palermo is a great city, and this B&B is a great base.

The b&b is housed in beautiful old building which used to belong to a princess. The room and breakfast were great and it was very central. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful and gave us a lot of recommendations, and actually showed us round part of the city.

We had just two nights in Palermo - we wish we could have stayed longer - and found B&B via delle biciclette the perfect place to stay.
We had a huge room overlooking the street which is full of colourful bicycle shops and repair workshops.
The rooms are on the third floor of a fabulous old building which is in easy walking distance of all the sights of historic Palermo.
We received a warm friendly welcome from Manilo and Manuella who were extremely helpful - making our stay memorable.
Special mention must go to Manuella for her beautiful breakfasts.
