“Best B&B anywhere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 23, 2012

And the reason: the owners. Well, actually, the B&B itself was charming. We loved the room and the simple, somewhat retro decor. The location was perfect -- in the heart of the old town. But the owners, they were what made this B&B such an unforgettable experience. We were so grateful for the hospitality: the breakfasts (!), the recommendations of excellent yet affordable restaurants, the gratis drive to the catacombs for my pregnant wife and me, who would have been reluctant to make the trip on our own in the unseasonably hot, humid early July that Sicily experienced this year, the opportunity to brush up on my French ;) And how could we forget the personal invitation to a private rooftop mandolin concert with views of the old town all around. Our whole trip to Sicily was perfect, but our stay in Palermo at this B&B was the highlight of the trip. Thank you so much. We WILL be back!

My husband and I stayed for one night at this precious, beautiful B&B. It was really great that we had previously arranged to have Manuela, the owner, pick us at the airport, she was great pointing some places of interest in Palermo on the way to the B&B, and talking about the city and culture and wine... she really knows a lot!

The place is beautiful. Lovely decoration, we stayed at the main bedroom I think, with a gorgeous bed with a canopy, a view of the street and the church right in front of it. The bathroom is huge and really nice. Breakfast was sooo delicious...

We will definitely stay there next time we go to Palermo, I won't even think of considering somewhere else - this was perfect!

We were two couples staying for two nights. We loved it. The building layout is interesting as a conversion from a very old stone building with a big courtyard. The rooms were up to date with air conditioning, full bathroom with fast hot water. Breakfast was ample and Manlio and Manuela friendly.

We stayed for two nights in July and found Manlio and Manuela's place to be excellent. The room was lovely and cool, thanks to the air con, in a city that can be *very* hot. The bed was very comfortable, and the hosts very friendly and helpful with recommendations. We had great restaurant recommendations and Manlio made us a reservation on our last night.

The location was convenient for the old town, the station and many of the sights.

Visited Sicily this May / June for my boyfriend's birthday celebrations, and stayed at La Via delle Biciclette for a week. Picked the guest house because it of location (central and near everything - also in the old Jewish quarter, interestingly) and uniqueness, 2 rooms only.

It was our first time in Sicily and we had an excellent time. Manlio and Maneula made the stay so enjoyable. They welcomed us with a coffee and found out what we were interested in, made recommendations about where to go, marking them out on maps; what to eat and where, and were generally very helpful. They made a real effort to make us feel welcome.

The flat was beautiful architecturally and decoratively; apparently the building used to be the home of a Sicilian princess. The bathroom was terrific, very sicilian with a nice large shower and big bath. The room was amazing (we stayed in the 'romantic room'). The only downside was the fact that the four poster, double bed had 2 single mattresses, instead of a double one, which was a bit uncomfortable and not very romantic!

Breakfast - wow! Fruit salads, waffles, bread, toast, cakes, cereals, juice and loads of coffee. We drink A LOT of coffee and they brewed as much as we could drink and made it just how I like - with hot milk.

They made my boyfriend's birthday extra special. Manuela recommended a trip to a nature reserve Sferracavallo and Manlio booked a great restaurant for the evening - La Rosa Nero. If you can, go. Local produce, authentic sicilian cuisine, menus written daily. Amazing food - 3 courses, bread, wine and water 33 euros.

All in all a fantastic holiday; a great place to stay and EXCELLENT value - recommended!

This is the perfect location just off via Roma and close to the railway station. Manuela and Manilo and charming and very helpful. The accomodation is at the top of an old palazzo so quite a few steps to walk up. The rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean, fresh towels every day and plenty of choice for breakfast. Despite being warned not to we drove into Palermo and with the help of the satnav found the B&B. Manilo was looking out for us and took our cases upstairs and then showed my husband somewhere safe to leave the car during our stay which we were very grateful for. We did not use our car in Palermo as the streets are so narrow. We would definately recommend staying here whilst in Palermo.

Room Tip: Either room is fine.

Our experience staying with Manuela and Manlio was outstanding. They have to be the nicest couple in all of Palermo! First, the location is just perfect. It is literally a 10 minute, if that, walk from the train station. It is located right off of via Roma on a narrow street (Via Divisi) filled with bicycle shops. The B&B is located in a wonderful, old palazzo on the third floor. Walking up three flights of wide marble stairs, we came to the entrance of the B&B. Upon entering, we came to a fresh, clean, and inviting place that we were so glad to call home! Our double room at the end of the hall was just beautiful!! It had a wonderful balcony overlooking the street below and was so unbelievably quiet at night. The air conditioner produced fresh, cool air too. The bed was so comfortable and the linens crisp and clean. The huge bathroom down the hall was kept meticulously clean as was the bedroom; and the whole B&B in fact was spotless.

Breakfast in the morning consisted of sliced fresh fruit (kiwi, banana, and oranges) with dark chocolate pieces, coffee, hot tea, fruit juice, fresh breads, cakes, etc. Just wonderful!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time talking with Manlio and Manuela with our very broken french, italian, and spanish. Thank goodness for google translate- at least it brought hearty laughter during our morning breakfasts with them.

When we return to Palermo, we will most definitely stay with Manlio and Manuela again. For the price we paid at 60E/night, our stay was the best value in Western Sicily and you would never find a couple nicer than them.

Thank you for a perfect stay, Manlio and Manuela! Grazie ancora per tutto :)
