“Respite from the traffic and people”
Reviewed May 24, 2012

Having wandered purposefully about Palermo for this, our 5th day, we planned our jaunt to bring us to Ristorante Luci e Calici for lunch. Arriving there at 1230, we were early, and so told our server "no hurry." After ordering water and a whole bottle of Prosecco - after all we were weary and had decided to enjoy a drawn out meal - our server, who was wearing a Las Vegas Fire Department shirt, and, we saw, gets around on a Harley, explained the three fixed price options. On returning to our table later he asked where we were from, and when we said Virginia, USA, he stepped over to a wine display and removed a bottle of Barboursville cabernet, produced and bottled about 70 miles from our home.
We were very pleased with our meal choices, as well as the service and hospitality, and impressed too that they have electrical outlets for, in our case, recharging a camera battery. If you are looking for excellent food and service in a classy, quiet atmosphere we highly recommend this establishment.

“The best restaurant in Palermo”
Reviewed May 11, 2012

Until we found luci e calici restaurant we thought there s no place to eat in Palermo. Althought we love sea food but in our 2 days trip in Sicily this was by the far the best and the only place to eat. Hospitality and gourmet cuisine met to create a one of kind memorable experience.

“Quality, sophisticated food in Palermo with service to match!”
Reviewed March 29, 2012

My family and I ate here on a recent trip in Sicily and it was our favorite meal in Palermo. We were not loving the traditional Palermo food and were looking for something of a bit higher quality to be honest. (We had been to some very highly rated restaurants on TripAdvisor and were not impressed).

This restaurant finally met our expectations! The chef here has taken traditional foods and put a new twist on them, using excellent ingredients. While there were some excellent fish items, a plus for my large family was that there was a variety of items on the menu, including pasta and meat options without seafood (for a few members of my family who do not eat seafood). For antipasti, we had the flan di ragusano with pear compote, the artichoke (carciofi) one and the Tagliere di Crudo e Bufala - ALL Excellent. The wait staff even brought out extra cheeses for us to taste. All entrees and pasta we ordered were wonderful. Wine list was extensive - everything was great!

The service was impeccable - friendly and helpful. The owner himself, a very nice Sicilian man, checked in on us several times and he spoke wonderful English and helped us select items based on what we were saying (he also pointed out his Harley Davidson motorcycle parked out front when he realized we were American!)
