“Lovely hotel in a perfect location”
Reviewed September 22, 2013

Step inside the Quitocanto and you would be forgiven if you forget where you are -at the heart of one of the busiest crossroads in Palermo. Quintocanto is a welcoming calm sanctuary from the heat and hustle of the main streets outside. Ideally situated in the old town but within walking distance of everywhere including New Town and beyond. We walked to all the main attractions without problem and there are plenty of great shops, markets, restaurants and cafes within yards of the hotel. Top marks for superb location.

This modern boutique hotel is set within an old building and maintains some of the original features. From experience the room are of varying sizes. The first room we were shown was long and narrow and lacked natural light. However, we were moved to another very nice room without hesitation. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and decorated in neutral colours, with all the amenties and facilties one would expect-fridge, airconditioning (which was absolutely superb given the heat and humidity), cable TV (although limited English channels-always makes me chuckle why hotels seem to think english speakers are only interested in the news whilst on holiday!), rain shower, comfortable bed. It is not as luxurious as some of the boutique hotels we have stayed in but it was in keeping with charm of the building. Overall no complaints but it did lack the wow factor one would expect from a boutique hotel.

During our 3 night stay, the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. One lady in particular whose name I have disappointingly forgotten was brilliant. We had many a conversation about Palermo and other things and she was genuinely interested in what her guests had to talk about. She always took time out to smile and ask about our day, giving plently of hints and tips along the way. We did not have time to take advantage of the free hour sampling various amenities in the Spa therefore cannot comment on this aspect of the hotel.

Overall we had a lovely stay and would recommend this hotel. As mentioned by other reviewers, for us, the only let down was the breakfast. It was nothing to write home about and very basic- Italians love their sweet breakfast- cakes and pastries dominate so don't expect to find much else. Coffee was great! Breakfast was included in the price of the hotel therefore I am not going to grumble but I would not pay extra to have breakfast here as the choice is extremely limited in comparison to what we were offered at other hotels during our trip around Sicily. Offering some healthier options considering it is a Spa hotel might attract positive feedback regarding breakfast from reviewers.

Room Tip: Hotel is very accomodating if you want to switch rooms. Rooms on 1st floor are dark with limited na...

Very nice location, in the middle of old town. All attractions are on walking distance.
My room was small, but well decorated. Deep-blue backlight in shower gives special feeling :-). Room noise-protection is null, but fortunately hotell was quite.
Hotell has a small spa; nothing special - small pool, jacuzzi, two saunas.
Brekfast not good at all: very small variety on food, same food every day.
Staff was OK.

Set right in the heart of Palermo, this was a perfect base for our holiday. Within walking distance of all major attractions as well as the buss and train stations. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Very grateful for the air conditioning and the shower was heaven! Breakfast was good and staff, though few, were helpful. The free hour in the spa was a lovely surprise!

However, although there was nothing to complain about, I do not see this hotel as a four star, but a three. Reasons being that the decor was slightly shabby - paint chipping, holes in the curtains, an old tv bracket left on the wall ( unused) and the bathroom sink coming off the wall.

I would definitely recommend this hotel, just don't come with too high expectations.

While location is excellent, rooms are clean, modern, spa is relaxing & soothing the staff let this hotel down.... Staff seem disinterested & bored to be there, they're unhelpful & if I was the owner of this hotel I'd want it to be marketed the right way... They had ample opportunity to sell the hotel & what they offered but they failed miserably.... Disappointing as staff are preventing this hotel from being excellent....

We had three days in this boutique hotel in central Palermo. Its right on the central square, with valet parking, has a Roman spa to die for (you make an appointment) with tea, canapes and fresh fruit poolside an immaculate shower/change area and sauna, all included in the room charge too. Rooms are on several floors, and it takes 3 lifts to get to the top floor.
The restaurant is excellent, with a courtyard serves Sicilian delicacies and a huge wine list. Comfortable, large rooms, it is excellent value , we found it in Lonely Planet.

This is one of the best small hotels in Europe we have stayed in. Despite it's absolutely perfect location in the centre of the old town, next to one of the most trafficed crossroads, it appeared as a quiet oase in the midst of chaos. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed, the staff gave the very best service, and the interior was beautiful. The hotel is centered around a wonderful atrium with relaxationareas and the hotel's restaurant (gourmetdinners!)
We somehow got the seniorsuite, what a place! Very spacious, stylish and luxurious, but they still have managed to keep old building details intact. Perfectly clean, and no trace of the mouldy odours that often appears in older buildings. No disturbing sounds, no traffic.
The only thing we found had some room for improvement was the breakfast. They had lots of different cakes and pastrys, but the bread and breadrolls seemed a day old. Lot's of fresh fruits, but we would have liked some vegetables as well.
The staff was available 24/7, always helpful and smiling. The day of departure our flight left late at night, and since we had to check out at noon, we were offered to use the showers in the spa to refresh - no charge.
All in all: An excellent hotel!!

Great hotel right in the heart of Palermo.
The rooms are very modern and had really good air conditioning, sky television and a super power shower.
The staff were very friendly, I cannot recommend this hotel enough.
we booked through expedia, but the hotel certainly was not expensive.
