Palermo wouldn't be my first choice of a place to return to -- too much evidence of dogs on the sidewalks, the grass and the beaches to make up for the fascinating eclectic architecture scattered through the city's many neighborhoods, the enchanting public spaces, the marvelous Teatro Massimo, the wonders of Mont-Royal or the eerieness of the Capuchin catacombs -- but if I were to go back I'd be happy to stay at the Garibaldi again. Yes, there's not a lot of room in the closets or the drawers, and yes, we had some plumbing issues. (When I complained that the shower wouldn't drain and then would bubble up up when we ran the sink or flushed the toilet, the man from the front desk asked if it was backing up wastewater or bubbling up "just air" through the standing water. Okay, it was "just air.") But the room was clean and cool with stone floors and enough walk-around room to be comfortable. The bed was large with a good mattress, the lights worked, the HVAC was functional, the housekeepers were efficient and, when visible, were cordial, and the breakfasts were very adequate. The front desk staff, while reserved, were obliging and tried to be -- and mostly were -- helpful.

The location is walking distance to most of downtown. Having walked (and walked) much of the length and breadth of Palermo over three days, I can't think of a better location as a place to stay. This hotel itself has a great composite facade and a sunken entrance that admits you on what would be the basement level off a broad alley, with the first guest floor at street level. With our tour we were ROH and drew one of the first floor rooms, but it was just fine for privacy and even reasonably quiet. Everything worked and we had no problems. Can't say what we paid because the price was included in the tour. My value rating is based on what other commenters say they paid, and what the place is advertised for now. Everything considered, I'd call it a bargain -- if I were to back to Palermo.

My mum and I stayed in a Twin room at the Hotel Garibaldi for 2 nights. The reception staff speak english very well and were able to give clea directions and advice on places to see and eat. There is a bus stop right outside for the Palermo SightSeeing Tour Bus. Our twin room was very clean, modern and spacious. It was cleaned very thoroughly daily. The buffet breakfast was very good, with a selection of fruit, pastries, cheese as well as eggs, bacon etc plus coffee, tea. I would stay at this hotel again and definitely recommend it to friends and family.

Nice new hotel. It's a shame and fitness room was still not fitted when we visited.
The airport bus dropped us off almost in front of the hotel at the big square by Teatro Politeama. Staff are friendly and effiicient for a hotel group.

Everything was ok, but nothing outstanding. Dodgy restaurant recommendations, but ok wifi prices. Room was moderate size, bed borderline comfy... nice shower but curtain not 100% clean. Generally ok - the location was excellent, and the free car parking made a huge difference as we drove around during the day,

An excellent clean hotel in the middle of Palermo. Helpful, english speaking (not easy to find in Palermo!), reception.
The only downside was the breakfast, they may have been hoping for a miracle akin to the loaves & fishes but a full breakfast room - 50/60 guests maybe - does not equate into 6 fried eggs & 4 rashers of bacon replenished every half an hour. We stayed for 7 nights & only got eggs or bacon on 2 occasions.
I wouldn't recommend Palermo as a tourist destination, never seen as much graffitti in my life, the town is tired & dirty, if the Mayor of palermo should read this, he needs to start a "Pride in Palermo" campaign!
