Palazzo Pantaleo B&B

We spent five enjoyable nights here, the hotel occupies the first floor of an old Palazzo just off Via Ruggero Settimo. The entrance is a little obscure, down a laneway into a courtyard (full of parked cars) and up the elevator to the first floor. Via Ruggero Settimo is part of what must be the main road through Palermo, at this end of the street it is full of upmarket shops and quite pleasant, the setting of the hotel off the street ensures that the rooms are quiet whilst being an easy walk to many of the sights in Palermo. The street was blocked to cars twice during our stay, on the Friday (a public holiday) and on the Sunday evening, the whole area was buzzing with activity and street life adding to the ambience of the location.
The owner Guiseppe has done a wonderful job restoring the rooms, ours was roomy with high ceilings, a balcony and air conditioning that worked well (needed for Palermo!).
The bed was very comfortable, breakfast was Ok and Guiseppe was very helpful.
The only negative was the absence of tea/coffee facilities in the room (same for all our hotels in Sicily) but free cold bottled water was available in the room.

Perfect location -- for shopping, dining, tourist info-point, bus to airport and sightseeing. Great coffee. Better-than-average breakfast. Complementary acqua naturale and touring suggestions. The owner is kind, generous and a little mysterious. The rooms are safe, clean, relatively quiet and very spacious. The bedding was the nicest of any place we stayed during our time in Italy.

The young Filipina who works for him doesn't know how to make tea but hey, you can't have everything.

From the moment I arrived (just two minutes' walk from where the airport bus drops off and with excellent instructions from Guiseppe on how to get there), I felt safe, secure and well looked after. The location of the charming Palazzo Pantaleo could not be better: 5-15 minutes' walk from just about everything one would want to see in Palermo (Palazzo dei Normanni, Duomo, Teatro Maximo,, right in the heart of the "upmarket shopping area", etc. etc.). The room and bath were spotless and congenial (minibar stocked with complimentary bottles of water!), continental breakfast delightful, and the price extremely "competative" (i.e. VERY reasonable!!!! ). Guiseppe is kind and intelligent and furnished me with a map and suggestions of where to walk/where to eat/what to see and etc.

Would I return to Palazzo Pantaleo when next in Palermo again? ABSOLUTELY!!!

Palermo is a bold, beautiful, bustling city...Palazzo Pantaleo is a lovely B&B in which to settle after a day of touring and sightseeing! The location is great, just off a busy street, yet the rooms are quiet and peaceful. They were spotless, large, comfortable and pleasant! Breakfast was fabulous: fresh fruit, tasty sweets and delicious, hot coffee, all presented beautifully. But the best part of our stay was Guiseppe! He was so helpful, kind, and very gracious, making our stay in Palermo even more wonderful! Would definitely recommend this charming B&B!

We have traveled a lot, but I have never seen the owner to be so involved and helpful. Giuseppe is great. He is very kind, charming and funny person. He gets attached to his guests, and there is no way that you do not get attached to him. This place is great. We had two rooms. The rooms a huge, everything is spotless, linens are sparkling, location is very good, and parking it the heart of the city is very helpful. Breakfast was good, always fresh fruit and pastries. Giuseppe actually asked what we would prefer for breakfast. Place is very secure. Giuseppe is there when you weak up and when you go to sleep. I do not know where is this man finds so much energy to work that much. If we ever go to Palermo again, that would be the place we stay. GREAT. GREAT.

Room Tip: they are all good.

Palazzo Pantaleo is a wonderful find in Palermo! The rooms are large, well appointed, and very clean! Giuseppe Scaccianoce, the owner, is a wonderful resource of where to go and what to see in the city, and he has a great wit as well! You would think the location of the B&B would lend the stay to be noisy and bothersome, but quite the opposite! Very quiet and secluded, but everything is well within walking distance! Breakfast is great with lots of fresh fruit and pastries!!
