Not easy to find from the outside as no sign only a small number with bell. Staff didn't speak English Staff locked myself, colleague and 15 students out so we were unable to enter the property and then denied doing it even through we heard him security latch on the door. The hotel itself is in the 'red-light district' of the city so it was not safe for the students to be out in the evening The breakfast was delivered to the room and consisted of a rock hard mini croissant and warm milk (apparently this is a traditional Italian breakfast) all rooms had different items delivered ranging from biscuits and a jar of chocolate spread to cold coffee and NO water.
Only good thing was an ok bed.

Room Tip: AVOID at all costs!

We thought the cab driver had made a mistake when he dropped us off in this neighborhood. When we entered the De Curtis, we entered through what used to be an old stable, and it still looked that way. Our room was large and clean with a double bath and a small, dirty balcony.
One place they advertise they are a hotel-if they are they should make the bed more than just the first night of the three we were there, they should have provided more than one roll of toilet paper ( yes, we actually ran out-I suppose we could have asked for more but we wanted to see what would happen. We ended up using our own) and they should have emptied the waste basket. If they were a B & B they should provide more than a sticky coffee pot, instant coffee ( no cream or sugar) and 2 pre packaged rolls on the 1st day and none after that. We will never go back. We stayed in many hotels and B & B's on this trip-this is the only one that is not getting a good review. Trip Advisor really blew it on this one.

Stayed for 2 nights during the summer... Room was clean, well furnished and cosy. Hotel was a bit outside the city centre but near the bus and train station, which was handy. Staff were always available to provide advice on trips to Etna. Nice breakfast on the terrace.

This B&B was wonderful; the staff were extremely helpful and patient with our limited Italian! They called affordable taxis for us for the airport when we needed them at early/late times. Everything was clean and newly renovated, and the breakfast was amazing with a great view. Broadband ethernet internet was in the rooms! It is kind of difficult to find the building (it is unmarked, no signs), but once you get in there, it's a really wonderful place.

It's within easy walking distance of the Catania Centrale train station (due west a couple of blocks) and all of the main sights downtown (Piazza di Duomo). I definitely recommend calling the B&B if you come in via airport, as they will hook you up with an affordable taxi/car to get you to them - the taxis at the airport will overcharge.

Room Tip: All rooms seem newly renovated; just book early
