Me and my wife were a little bit worried about visiting Sicily, but we had a great time starting from the stay at liberty hotel in catania.Charming atmosphere, helpful and professional staff, warm quiete and clean rooms.the manager and the staff did all to make our holiday as better as they can.To recommend to everybody who wants a familiar but professional service in walking distance to the heart of the city.

Everything was exelent. The staff was friendly and helpfull. Small hotel with personal athmosphere. Not long distance from center. They ordered taxi for us, from and to airport. Very lovely place. The staff was very helpfull picking restaurants and what to see and what to do. The show us street near the hotel, when locals eat at nights. It was like one big outdoor barbecue. You could pick what you like and it was grilled in the sidewalk. Cheep and cosy.
We are happy about everything in our stay

We traveled as a group of 10 friends, and all agreed that was the best hotel experience, period. The staff was couldn't do enough to help, even serving a quick continental breakfast at 4:30 am before our departure for the airport. The hotel's decor was a mix of art deco and late Victorian, perfectly arranged for maximum effect and somehow reminiscent of turn-of-the-century Italy. The rooms were spacious, the doubles with bedroom and sitting room; the bathrooms were sparkling. The location was about two blocks out of the center, not at all threatening. It was an easy walk to the Duomo. All in all, an experience of Sicilian graciousness.

We stayed here for 2 nights in September after arriving at the airport in the afternoon. When we checked in, we were pleasantly surprised with a free upgrade to a junior suite and a bottle of wine in the room!!

The hotel is slighty out of the centre, but within easy reach of the main area (centro) by foot. The staff were very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble for them. We arrived down for breakfast close to the finishing time, but we were encouraged not to rush and even offered seconds! Breakfast can be served outdoors on a garden terrace which was most enjoyable.

Both of the restaurants that were recommended to us were top class and great value. Try the Pasta alla Norma (a local dish) and ask the hotel for directions to an "Art" restaurant nearby - we can't remember the name, but the food was great (special mention for the bread selection).

The taxi from the airport was €20, but this was €30 returning to the airport!!

Despite the kindness of the young and helpfull staff, the hotel offers an unpleasant atmosphere, due to the overwhelming bad taste decoration (false liberty lamps, artificial flowers, sinthetic silk curtains), poor brakfast (no genuine products, hard to believe in Sicily), and to an arrogant young director, with no idea of good manners. The location is on the edge of un unsafe area. Be aware that from (and to) Catania airoprt, you need to call a Radiotaxi. If you wait on your taxi line, as I did, you will be charged double. At my arrival to Hotel Liberty, the doorman pretended to have no idea of the airport-hotel rate, in a pure mafia-style.

We have reviewed number of hotels and finaly decided to stay in Liberty hotel. Main reason was good location and good references in TripAdvisor. We spent here 3 days in the end of October and I have to admit, that it was excelent choice. In addition to that staff was very helpful, which was important, since we were travelling with our small kids.

We were greeted warmly upon arrival. All formalities were done and into our room within minutes. This was most appreciated after an overseas lfight and a transfer from Rome. We immediately found the beds exceptionally comfortble. Later we re able to appreciate the warm elegance of the whole interior design, icluding inlaid marble floor, yet all still felt homey and welcoming.

Liberty is on a quiet street; we did not feel uncomfortable walking back at night.

We cannot say enough about the friendly/ helpful young staff., who checked bus/train schedules; recommended good restaurants, including guiding to Savia, where locals go for arancini.

Breakfast was self serve, ample and inviting, after being served a hot beverage by a nother friendly/hospitable staff.

We found Catania to be a good base to explore Mount Etna; Taormina; Siracuse and Nota. We stayed 5 nights at Liberty. before travelling to some other parts of Sicily. We book a last night after our return to catch our flight. When we arrived, we found our left luggage and a jacket nicely hung in our new room.

Need we say more? A wonderful place. Many thanks to the staff.
