We are SO happy we picked This is Etna for several reasons:

- We were picked up on time from our hotel in Taormina
- Small group- it was us and one other couple our same age (late 20s)
- With the full day tour, you get to see everything- craters, valleys, the river, etc. There was a little hiking to start the day which was also nice
- The winery stop was AMAZING and a perfect break in the day
- Johnny is a fantastic guide- he knows everything there is to know about Etna, but he is also really fun to hang out with. He has explored every corner of the region and took us to places that other tour companies don't go- it was great to get to explore with no other tourists around.

If I have any advice, it would be to bring a bottle of water if you get thirsty on the hike (but don't drink too much because there's a long time before you get to use a real bathroom!) Also bring a swimsuit if you want to brave the cold water.

Thank you so much to This is Etna!

We reviewed excursions with other companies but overall this one appeared to be the best and in the end it was everything we expected and more.
Our guide Johnny came and picked us up at the hotel in Catania. He was punctual, friendly and knowledgeable. We picked up four people who were from Venice with a total of 7 people in the jeep. It was full but comfortable for a jeep. Johnny explained everything in English and Italian. We live in Spain but we teach English so it worked out well. We drove to Etna while our guide explained different things about the volcano. We did some trekking on Etna for several hours and then went to see a few craters with our guide giving us details about everything. We did some cave exploration of a lava tunnel and then went to an amazing winery in a village. We don't drink wine but we were given amazing food and local home made bread. We haven't eaten better in any restaurant in Sicily so far. Finally, we went to a gorge area with fresh water river where we had the opportunity to cool off a bit from the hot, humid weather. This trip was well worth the price and we had a wonderful experience on Etna. It was really a full day and we enjoyed every minute of it.
Thanks again to Simone and Johnny for your help and organisation.

Following a friend's recommendation, we hired a "morning" trip to Etna, conducted by Johnny, the guide. We did a very complete trip including the Calderone, some craters, one astonishing cave and a nice picnic in Zafferana. Reasonable pricing for the services rendered. Excellent volcanic & geological information provided by Johnny. He feels authentic passion for the Vulcano !!!

Had a amazing day with This Is Etna Tour. You could imagine all the things you can do in an Etna tour. But you cannot feel the atmosphere if you don't choose This Is Etna :) English is not my native language so I couldn't express much about this. People who want an Etna tour could always read the reviews from others. And you can check the pictures. All I want to say is, make the decision and choose them.

After reading all the TripAdvisor reviews of each of the Etna tours and looking through each of the itinerary's, we chose This is Etna because it encompassed everything we wanted - trekking, wine tasting, the gorges - the lot! Our tour guide Johnny picked us up from our hotel in Taormina for a tiny bit extra at 950am and myself and my boyfriend were on our way in our Land Rover jeep with another couple from the UK and an Italian man. Johnny knew the answers to every one of our questions and was an incredible guide. We first went to a lookout point off road which was very bumpy but exciting, followed by amazing views and then to our second location, which was the two hour trek. It was a really interesting trip and although hard on the way down, it was a great feeling afterwards! We then went to the lava caves and following that, had a lovely lunch at a vineyard tasting fantastic wines whilst enjoying amazing vegetables, cheeses and meats. Johnny kept insisting that we could have more if we wanted but it was really plenty - we didn't finish everything - it was really a lot of food and drink! After this, Johnny took us to his very own place that he discovered of the Alcantra Gorges - there were no tourists here at all and it really was a special treat as Johnny took pictures of us by the waterfalls and I now have memories I will never forget. After this, we went to the main Alcantra gorges (but I think Johnny's discovered place was better!) ... All in all an amazing trip and I am so glad I did it! Thank you Johnny!
