It's well worth the visit , but keep expectations in perspective.
The castle is interesting as is the surrounding area , both for the local myths and fact!

Nice sea front to have a stroll and a local drink and take in the coastal scenery .

you must go: a lot of bars where you can taste aperol spritz and orange juice from the best orange in the world: the sicilian ones!

We took the 534 AMT bus from Piazza Borsellino (you can get the tickets in any tabacchi shop for €1). It takes around 45 minutes but you're gonna see it when you are there, so don't freak out and leave the bus before like we did. The bus to go back takes really long to pass by, though, and we have to wait around and hour for it. Public transportation is terrible, but otherwise you have to pay €15 for the tour buses to take you there.

There's a rocky beach next to the castle, but it's really hard to walk in the edgy rocks. Make sure you have the right shoes/flip flops for the matter.

The view from the castle is great and the entry is €3, so it's worth to visit.

We liked the Castle which was very good and not too tiring when climbing the many steps. There are not too many restaurants let alone good ones. To avoid drink and driving means having to walk a lot.

This is a wonderful castle on a volcanic beach. I took our kids there because they wanted to go to the beach and it wasn't really beach weather. This gave them something different to see and experience. Bring some water shoes and some band-aids so you can explore the shoreline, it will be more than worth it!
