“Tourist trap”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

We had pizza here, and the food was good.
I asked for a glass of local house wine, and was very surprised to see that they charged me 6,5 euros. When I complained, they said that the wine was really good, and that other wines cost up to 25 euros per glass... Complete rip-off, lukily we found il Sale Art Cafe just down the road, which is soooo much better in every way.

“Welcome place for meat lovers”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

Lovely place for informal dining-reasonable prices. It would be nice if the weather permits you to sit outside. Delicious anti-pasti. The house specialty- the polpette (balls) with different meats and fish etc are very interestingl Suggest you order the mixed plate. Pizza is also delicious- we tried a couple of them, Excellent Sommelier to guide you and tell you about the wines they serve-he quite knowldgable and passionate in fact.

“Terrible food, terrible service, terrible atmosphere”
Reviewed April 29, 2013

We were recommended to this Restaurant as one catering for vegetarian tastes as well as fish and meat eaters.
On arrival we were offered a glass of wine, which had happened often to us at other restaurants free of charge. When the bill came we noted we had been charged for the 'gift'!
The service was slow, but hey that was ok in comparison with the food.
Be warned - EVERYTHING is minced up and made into a meatball.
One of us had the vegetarian misto....5 balls of unidentifiable mush which all tasted the same, i.e. of nothing. The other person had the fish misto, 5 balls, 1 of which was salmon (I'm guessing from the colour here) 2 balls which were a complete mystery of 'off' nastiness and 2 MEAT balls.
Both of us ate about half a ball each and left the rest. On calling the waitress over and telling her the food was unacceptable, she just shrugged her shoulders and asked us if we would like to take it away! I reiterated that the food was unpleasant, not what we ordered(meat with the fish) and we didn't like it. She told us to have a sweet instead! I asked for the manager.
Another lady arrived eventually and just asked us if we would like sweet or coffee. I asked her if she was the manager, and she said she was. Again we stated the problems, and I also pointed out that adjacent tables were also returning the food. She just shrugged her shoulders and said "what could she do?" and presented us with a bill for 74 euros! I said that to charge that much for food that we had returned, for drinks that had been given to us and for a massive cover charge (8 euros each!) was really poor.
They actually couldn't care less at this restaurant and as there was clearly a row at the next table about the food, we just left.
By the way we went directly across the road to another restaurant where we had first class food served brilliantly and for half the money.
Polpetteria will rip you off and not give a d-n.

“Excellent pizza near downtown Catania”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

The restaurant is slightly off the main street, but worth going to. The food was very good and they have several unusual pizza selections. I like Capriciossa, which was not offered. They were willing to put one together did an excellent job.
