Wow. Mount Etna looks gorgeous! The cable car rides were good but quite expensive at €30 each (during off-peak season). Love the fact it was quiet. The roads were winding & wide too. Ample car parking space. Love the fact that there was a lot of freedom to do whatever you want once you reached halfway up the mountain after the cable car journey. The weather at this time of the year was very unpredictable. Had very warm sunshine one minute then cold winds & snow storms. A wonderful adventure. Advise to the Mount Etna Cable Car company - When guests put their ticket in the turnstile to return back give them back their ticket as a memento of their time & experience on the mountain. For Mount Etna Cable Car company to take it after paying €30 is not right!

Don't let the price out you off. I would recommend purchasing the full trip otherwise it's a long hard clime. A very active day when we visited (for the volcano) . The trip was well organised and well worth the visit. I would recommend also climbing the smaller craters near the car park.

The mountain itself is alive - sounds of gas exhaust every minute. This is a nice experience, BUT:
1) in order to climb up - you have to use their cable road (30 euro per person) - very expensive!
2) The cable road brings you to the middle of nowhere - almost nothing to see there.
3) If you want to get to the craters (or at least closer) - you have to pay more 30 euro per person!

This is ridiculous! 60 euro is way too much for such an experience! The authorities just stealing money from the visitors!
I wouldn't recommend visiting this site. Maybe customer's boycott would convince the local authorities to bring prices to a much lower and reasonable level - paying 60 euro per person is too high!

The day we decided to go up Mount Etna was cold, raining and we even got some hail! It wasn't the right day to visit for obvious reasons, but the way up was fun and the landscape was incredible. All those colours...

Definitely the place to be in Sicily, a must see for everyone. Best seen from the East, the views are really magnificent. A beautiful drive, the roads are quite good on the approach via Cesaro
