A stunning view and well worth the effort to visit if you can. I joined a tour from Malta on the ferry. I am into photography but the opportunities you get to stop and take the stunning shots are limited on a coach.

My advice would be to if you can pick when to go, views are stunning in clear and partly cloudy skies but limited with more cloud cover.

Also go without the tour, we didn't stop at any of the scenic overlooks on the way up or down the mountain road as it was a tour so some more advice would be to rent a car and stop in your own time.

Overall an amazing place to visit with some stunning views on offer.

Base station is located at 2000 m. above sea level. Cable car takes you to 2500, and the very top you can reach by 4WD buses.
Be prepared for a bad weather (rains) and have a warm jacket or wind/rain proof sweater.

If you love volcanoes, this is a must !!

Having only one afternoon in Catania, I didn't actually think I was going to be able to get anywhere near the magnificent Etna, but I was wrong...

A short drive from Catania (about 30minutes) gets you to Rifugio Sapienza, Nicolosi, from where you can hop on to the Funivia dell'Etna (ski lift) which takes you up the Southern flank of Etna.
Arrived at the top you have the choice to either brave the barren moonscape alone or hop on a 4 wheel drive bus that will take you on a bumpy ride up to the Torre del Filosofo, a mere 300 meters below the main crater. From here, a charming multi-lingual guide takes you on a hike around one of the smaller craters.

Surrounded by breathtaking views and breathtaking scenery, you become very aware of the frightening power of this gigantic and very active volcano feeling the hot lava stone beneath your feet.
A very humbling experience.

The Funivia + bus and guide will set you back a whopping 60 € per person, but if you can spare it, it's more than worth it.

I probably would suggest to take an entire day so you can fit in some extra hiking if you have the time and if you are fit enough (or even cut out the bus to spare some cash), because its is just such an extraordinary place.
However, with the time I had to spend around Catania, doing it this way I couldn't have wished for a more magical afternoon !!!

Amazing attraction in Sicily I liked the view & disliked the safety. It will be nice that there will be a restaurant.
