The very original apartment belongs to the "piano nobile" (= beletage, 2nd master floor) of the historical and massive Palazzo Trigona (formerly of the dukes of Misterbianco), conveniently situated in the vivid core of Catania, at the corner of its central axis via Etnea. There is a parking (for moderate pay) within walking distance. The rooms are spacious, with vaulted ceilings whose painted fresco decoration is spectacular. Each window opens to a balcony, offering a view onto via Etnea, the sea and the volcano. The floors are covered by ornate mayolica tiles. The grand salone is especially magnificent and we even found a piano there. There are two bathrooms, one with a period bath tub resting on lion feet. We used the well-equipped kitchen for preparing an opulent candlelight dinner and felt "very much at home" in these aristocratic surroundings - thanks also to our welcoming and helpful host Davide, who is a very polite, cultivated and friendly person.
