“Primo Passo Paradise”
Reviewed October 13, 2014 for a stay in October 2014

We stayed for 5 days in October and still felt like we left too soon.

Guiseppe, the owner, couldn't do enough for us whilst we were there. From waking up to the smell of fresh coffee, advice on restaurants, the local area and Sicilian culture, his enthusiasm for Primo Passo (including his honey and olive oil which are in the house to sample) and taking us sea kayaking on our final day. Guiseppe lives close at hand in a neighbouring building and strikes the perfect balance between being a host and leaving you to enjoy the sun on the veranda (and there was plenty of sun to be had).

The house itself has been renovated and has plenty of charm and character. We stayed in the room with a four poster bed; the views from this room are amazing, with morning sunshine coming through the window shutters. There's also a great kitchen and living space, with plenty of room for you to relax in. Outside is a terrace with beautiful views of the sea and lighthouse - the perfect spot to have breakfast on a sunny morning.

Guiseppe will point out the various swimming locations and you can walk from the gardens to the rocky beach in no time at all (so you don't need to worry about taking much with you). We swam every other day, the sea was lovely and warm, even in October. We borrowed a couple of snorkels and watched the fish swim by in the crystal clear waters.

Augusta is a lovely town with a great take away pizza place. Some reviews of the town talk about the petrochemical works but these are only noticeable when driving in from the highway - they are a world away from the tranquility and nature of Primo Passo completely.

In our 5 days, we visited Syracuse, Noto, Catania and Etna, all of which were within easy driving distance. We would recommend this location as your base for exploring the east of Sicily.

There is also a puppy who lives on site. He is very docile and will say hello but then wander off again (unless you have a ball in hand).

We can't wait to return in the future and have already planned our order for Giuseppe's olive oil!

Management Response
Jul 31, 2014
It is a pleasure to host people incline to sustainable life and keen to explore like you. Pity that you stayed only two days on your Sicilian tour, as we are central to book a guided tour to Etna or dining in Syracuse.
