We spent a few hours wandering around the centre of Noto and very much enjoyed it. The Duomo is approached up a spectacular flight of steps and the Teatro Comunale is well worth a daytime visit to see the impressive auditorium with its fine array of boxes. Just avoid the Cafe Amarcord.

We found Noto a real delight. We parked by the football stadium and walked the very short distance into the centre of town. The whole of the centre is in a beautiful baroque architecture, you really do not know where to look. The centre is also very compact and can be walked round easily. After spending at least half a day in Noto we went on to Modica which is also full of baroque buildings but is much more spread out and difficult to navigate. We had intended to finish our tour in Ragusa but we had spent so long in Noto that we were short of time. I think we made the right decision.

I really loved all the region (Ragusa, Modica, etc) with its luscious baroque. Every adornment, every single detail didn't seem... too much, but great and romantic! Besides, the buildings at dusk had a great, almost mystical colour...

I think I didn't like "baroque" until I saw this region...

Noto deserves a whole afternoon to visit all the churches. This is one of the towns destroyed by the earthquake in 1693.

Simply awesome architecture - so many churches and palaces in such a small area, it is almost over whelming.
