“What a lovely homely retreat”
Reviewed August 7, 2011

Me my wife (Helen) and our 10 year old daughter Madison stayed here for 10 nights. We had the blue room where there is a lovely sized double room and an adjacent small room, with a few steps across the landing to the bathroom. If you have both rooms you have sole use of the bathroom. Everything was very clean, towels and bedding changed regularly. The other double room has an ensuite. There is also a fridge stocked with free water and fruit juices.
Breakfast was excellent with a good range of continental breakfast items to choose from.
One note is that there is no tea/coffee making facilites in the room, luckily we took our travel kettle so we could make our own once we found the supermarket.

Stella and Guisippe were superb hosts and made us feel very welcome, even inviting us to a family gathering. Our lovely neighbours from prague helped us with conversation as We only spoke a few words of italian but we got an ap on my daughters ipod before we went and this helped us on a number of occasions.

The location was about 45 mins from Alghero and 15 mins from porto Torres. There is a big long beach 5 minutes down the road or if you are more adventurous then there are some of the best beaches you can find within 1 hours drive. Some of our favourites were La Bombarda (Near Alghero) Punta Negra (Near Stintino but this is not well signposted and you have to walk down through a complex to get to it). La Pelosa (very busy), Madelena Island (2 1/2 hours drive).

There is also an Aquapark about 10 minutes drive from the villa, we only went once on a winday day, but was suprised on the quality of the facilities as madison enjoyed some great waterslides with no queing.

Overall the location, the people and the wonderfull beaches made this a holiday we will never forget.

Room Tip: for a family take the blue room, for a couple take the ensuite

Although I have been to Sardegna eight times already, this time it was the best and absolutely amazing stay for me and my girlfriend at Stella del Golfo.
The owner Guiseppe and his wife Luciana are the two loveliest people in Sardegna. They did really all they can for us to feel well...and we did throughout the stay. Each day there was a large table prepared for us with many choices to eat for breakfast, so it is up to you whether you want a typical sweet Italian breakfast like cappuccino with croissants, cookies and cakes or the more central European style of breakfast we are used to like bread with ham and cheese. Plus there are many vegetables and fruits (from their own garden) prepared.
The whole house and our room (with bathroom) was very clean and we felt really comfortable from day 1. The location is also very good, by car it takes less than 5 minutes to the 8 km long Platamona sand beach.
This place is ideal if you do not wish to stay just at one beach the whole stay and you like to explore towns and various beaches in the norhern part of Sardinia. And there is really lot to explore, my reccommendation is the less a beach is know the better you will feel as even in mid-July we found stunning beaches almost empty.

All in all there are just positive feelings and I doubt we will stay elsewhere next time visiting Sardegna, everything was excellent.
Maybe the only con can be for some other travelers the owners speak Italian only. But our great neighbors we had there during our stay, from Sheffield, UK, spoke English only and similarly like us it did not seem to be a big problem to communicate with the owners.

Guiseppe and Luciana, thank you!

Jakub

Stayed there for three days (would stay for another week if we had time). We got astonishing treatment in this nice villa, amazing garden: our little boy was feeding fishes playing on swing, exploring plants, checking out chickens and cat. Our dear hosts gave us lemons and oranges directly from trees (brought from Sicily, as well as other plants). Room tidy, comfortable (even fancy in a way), WiFi fast, terrace spacy with nice views towards the sea. OK, now about breakfast. As I've traveled a lot in Italy I almost got used to Italian breakfast (cappuccino + sweets), but here we had a real continental breakfast: prosciutto, cheeses, juices... man, that was something.
There is a good restaurant not far like 3 min. walk - ask the owner for address and go for it - great value for money.

We stayed at this B&B for one night, because it was close to Alghero Airport (approx 40 minutes drive), not expensive and the pictures on their website looked promising.

The downside of this B&B is that it is hard to find and that there is not much to do in this area if you plan to stay longer.

The positive part is actually the rest. It is very, very clean, the owners are extremely friendly, the views are stunning and the rooms are nicely decorated and they have good beds and a nice bathroom. The breakfast is also good with some fruits of their own garden. And this all for a pricetag that I would consider as cheap.

The property looks even better then on on their website and I can really recommend this B&B to everyone who is looking for something in this area. You don't need to look furter.
