Have just returned from a weeks stay at the Hotel Daniel ,this is the first time I have ever written a review but feel the need.Although set in a quiet town, use of own transport a must to see the island, the hotel is excellent value for money, clean, lovely pool area and use of hotel transport to the beach. But most of all I would like to thank the staff who went out of their way to give us a relaxing holiday.Nothing was too much for them, friendly, helpfully ,also providing nibbles(for free) to go with your drinks by the pool. Big thank you them.

We spent 10 days in lovely Sardina and 9 nights at Daniel Hotel in Murta Maria!

The first thing that met us was the owner after stepping out of the taxi... A friendly welcome!

The hotel was nicely was located in little Murta Maria just 10minutes from Olbia town and 15 from the Airport!

It was a family hotel, and the owner (didnt speak alot English) and Son (Good English) took good care of us during the stay. Fortunately there was a Sweet girl who spoke good English and helped us alot during our stay.

The room was very nice with a clean and well equipped bathroom. On the downside was the uncleaned balcony, with alot of spiderweb on the chairs and a uncut bush just outside so we couldnt se anything of the hotel area, mayby it was meant to be like that but it felt abit wierd.

The room was maintained everyday, and the breakfast was good: Included fresh croissants, yoghurts, bakery, cheese, tomatoes and some meat. Good coffey and juices. On the downside there was very dry bread and no toasts...

The Hotel had a sweet Pool, that we didn´t see before we booked on the web so that was a very nice surprise.

The hotel arranged with free transportation to the Beach Porta Istana 4 times dayly and return trips aswell. plus the possebility to book sunbeds, Downside was that it costed 25E to book 2 sunbeads and a parasol, but perhaps its standard price?

The Hotel had bikes that u could rent. That was good. But on the downside they didnt work that well. One out of five bikes worked properly. 10E each for a days rent.

In the near area there was several good resturants, but somehow the Hotel Personal didnt know or reccomend any of them.

There is several beaches in the area, many of them very nice but very hard to reach without Car.

And way-descriptions were not very good... from either the hotel or the roadsigns.

The Hotel could be a notch better with:

Fixed Bikes
Some information in english about nearby beaches and resturants, and how to reach them.

We could recommend the hotel, but be aware of some flawes

The hotel is located in the small village of Murta Maria south of Olbia. It is a very quiet place. The hotel staff was very friendly, our room was clean and we had a good breakfast. The hotel has parking and a swimming pool, playground next to the hotel. At about 400 meters away is an excellent restaurant Ristorante Murta Maria. We tried the pizza, pasta and dessert and it was one of the best meals that we ate on Sardinia.

To anyone considering this hotel, I recommend ignoring the low star reviews as after reading the comments they are extremely judgemental and therefore providing an unbalanced view.
The hotel rooms are basic yes, but they are definitely of 3 star standard, everything worked fine in the room we stayed in and anything we were unsure of the staff were more than happy to help with. Anthony (the owner's son) was extremely helpful and nothing was too much for him to do for us, we would not have found nearly as many of the nice areas surrounding the hotel had it not been for him.
Plenty of restaurants in walking distance (we recommend the Murta Maria and La Pergola - Pizzas of course are fantastic).
The hotel is slightly away from the beach - but again within walking distance but more comfortable to cycle, bicycles are provided with no extra charge.
Breakfast is well presented if simple, but all very nice.
The hotel doesn't have a pool which I was a bit dubious about to begin with, but every beach in the area is brilliantly maintained and clean with crystal clear waters so who needs a pool anyway?
Basically just book the hotel!

Room tip: All of the rooms are similar, we stayed on the ground floor which wasn't too bad but maybe the first floor would be quieter as with anywhere it is more likely to be louder if there are people above you.
