Modern and convenient but only if you have a car!

We knew about the location before we came! As we had a hired car we did not mind to stay outside the city! It's good if you have a car with gps!
The breakfast was very nice and quite some choice! The rooms are nice modern a big, also the bathrooms!
We missed a Chanel TV in English and German!
All the staff are very polite and friendly!

The hotel itself is very modern and clean, all the staff we came across seemed very polite and helpful.
Pool area is lovely and not overly busy being mid September.
I know there was a complaint in the previous review about late cleaning, but we actually quite liked the fact that room cleaning was available until about 4.00pm, meaning they cleaned our rooms while we were out and we did not feel rushed to vacate our rooms for cleaners.
The location is about a 10 -15 minute walk to the port /main town of Oblia (not the nicest of walks at night but we didn't mind this as we hired a car), so the location of the hotel may not suit everyone, especially as the hotel is in quite a remote location with limited lighting and is quite isolated to walk around at night,
Breakfast was good with a large variety of hot food, fruits, pastries and cereals, they do however only give you small plates to eat on for breakfast, I'm guessing to minimise wastage of food (I'm not sure if that is the norm for hotels in the area).
My only slight complaint would be that for a 4* hotel, I would expect at least 1 English speaking channel in our room, as the only one we could find was a dated music channel showing old music videos.

Firstly, I would really like to know if the Doubletree brand is the secondary brand of Hilton.
The location is downright awful but I presume the surrounding area would have been developed had the recession not happened. The walk into town is very badly lit and I felt very unsafe hence on the second day we hired a car for the duration of our stay.
The hotel itself is very clean although I do think that not finishing the cleaning of the rooms until 4.30 is way below modern day expectations of any venue carrying the Hilton marque and smacks of too few staff.
While the location was absolutely dismal more could be done to make the hotel an oasis instead the pool was basic, the poolbar hardly ever operated and who on earth believes that a mere 16 sunbeds satisfy the needs of a hotel with over 100 rooms.
The breakfasts were just appalling - there was no service, the choice was very poor and the few cooked items available were always cold. Moreover we had to wait ages for replenishment of everything on offer.
When my husband complained that there was not even cutlery available he was screamed at by a banshee of a woman who said she was a manager.
When my husband asked for an Irish coffee (on the bar menu) he was told there was no cream on two nights running.
To add insult to injury on our final evening all the normal paying guests were herded out of the dining room to make way for a group of visitors and we had to eat our meal at the side of the bar - and were still asked to pay full price.
What a shambles and nowhere near the standard we would expect of a British Airways holiday. Indeed, I would suggest that you delist this hotel immediately until it improves.
A total waste of money!

Management response:Responded September 22, 2016

Dear DC,
It is kind of weird to read this comment from the wife of a man who threw a spoon almost in a woman's face. He is a big tall man and I am a woman. And not matter such a disrespectful and manner-less behavior since the day one, I only told your husband that he had no right to behave like that and I simply left the restaurant.
That day your husband was talking to our front office agents using words such as "rubbish" and other that I cannot repeat (describing our service and hotel) that forced me to approach him in order to check what was the issue which provoked such a behavior and the use of those bad words.
I gently went to him and I have asked him to please, go together to the restaurant because I wanted to talk to him together with our restaurant manager in order to understand what was the complain about and to solve it.
We went together (while you stayed seated in front of the reception desk) to your breakfast table. He showed to me that the size of the spoon for the cereals was to little.
So yes, we made a mistake. We gave you a spoon with a wrong size. The waiter provided another bigger spoon but your husband was already so upset that he threw it to him, using bad words. Same thing that he did to me while he was showing his disappointment. That's why I told him that the conversation was over as I was not willing to talk to a guest who thinks he's got the right to throw things in the face of people who are just doing their job.
Even if we make mistakes, we are not supposed to be physically or verbally attacked like your husband did.
No matter this, we gave you our best smile and service, every single day.
You should have think about it before writing this complaint.

As a Hilton diamond member we have been given a suite. Bed was incredibly comfortable, so was the blanket ( I wish every hotel had the same standard!). Very nice bathtub with jacuzzi, and a shower with water massage. Beautiful white leather furniture, very spacious balcony. What else to ask for? Especially when you are out all the time seeing incredible scenery of Sardinia.

Breakfast - not bad, a nice European touch was a glas of champain. One could ask for coffee made to order and eggs any style. What was missing perhaps was the local accent - yes, they had a bit of the local cold cuts but no local cheese or sweets.Too bad as this would have added a touch of something special for those of us on vacation. For business traveler - perfect!

Swimming pool - we have never used it ( after all Sardinia has the most incredible beaches I have ever seen). It looked very inviting, clean, and had a guard till 7 PM.

Location- yes, it is in the industrial area but a short 15 min walk to the center. If that's too much one can take a taxi, I am sure. We had a car but never used it for going for a dinner. Perhaps a shuttle would help those who complained in some of the reviews.

Good location for seeing much of the North of the island, which is just breath taking!

All in all great hotel for what we needed.

Out of the way hotel, located in the middle of nowhere. Odd architecture ( I found it ugly) but comfortable rooms. I spent only one night and didn't use the facilities. Free parking. Efficient front desk staff; clean room, comfortable bathroom and great American mattress ( a rare perk in Sardinia!) Breakfast was also fine. Value for money.
One serious shortcoming: only two elevators: at breakfast time, you either walk up or wait.

Room tip: mine was a corner room, very spacious.

We only stayed for one night as we were flying out the next day. Good quick checkin with a lovely surprise of a delicious chocolate chip cookie. We were given a very clean large room with lovely comfortable bed, beautiful bathroom and good wifi.
It's a good 15 minute walk into Olbia with all the shops and restaurants. The hotel provides a free car park. We thought the hotel was good value and met our expectations so we would stay there again if we were ever in Olbia again.
