A very enjoyable week in a villa that has a lot to offer. The setting is idyllic, and the house and pool provide a perfect relaxing base. The rooms are quite elegant and very clean.
My "very good" rating falls short of excellent because of the accumulation of a number of small, irritating things - none of them deal breakers, but they could so easily be rectified. First, the directions for finding the villa are rubbish, both on TripAdvisor and from the owner. It took almost an hour and about 5 phone calls to the house keeper to actually find the place. Second, there was no helpful information that one would normally expect - e.g. emergency contacts, local shops and restaurants, disposal of rubbish (which you have to take into Alghero). Third, the absence of plugs for both the bathroom and kitchen sinks - trivial, but very irritating! Finally, there needs to be a clear statement that a car is essential.
As a family with three young children we really enjoyed our relaxing stay here. We were all very excited to explore the different areas of the characterful property and garden when we first arrived and found it very well equipped including games and magazines/books. It was cool and quiet and private and the pool was a dream for us and of course the children who didn't want to leave the villa. You definately need a car and its a bit of a maze getting in and out to surrounding areas which are all worth a visit. Lovely sandy beach 5 mins drive away to the south with shallow sea and bar/restaurant easy to park but busy as all the beaches in Sardinia in August seem to be! Only real negative was that the water tasted a bit strange so we had to buy bottled water but that may be true of the whole area and water from the supermarket is v cheap. There was also a bottle of mineral water provided in the fridge when we arrived and plenty of loo roll etc. A note for those with small children the shallow end of the pool is about one metre with gently steps in so our four years olds couldnt reach the ground which was fine but they can't be left unattended - but there's a good excuse to sit and read in the sun by the pool! To conclude we would definately come again!

The Positives: my wife and I stayed in this villa for a week and the photos really do not do this villa justice. The rooms are all very well equipped, the master bedroom is very spacious, the lounge is very cooling after a day's sunbathing by the pool, and the covered veranda is absolutely ideal for eating your meals under out of the sun. The bathrooms are very clean and the showers work very well with a nice, powerful spray.
Alghero itself is a lovely town, with very friendly people and great restaurants. The walk along the seafront is well worth doing, especially at sundown.
The negatives: the villa is not located as per the Tripadvisor map! It is actually 5km outside of town and is a walk of 50-60 minutes down Via Sant'Anna to the edge of town. If you look on the Tripadvisor map the villa is located just under the M of the word Map in the bottom right-hand corner. As we booked this villa based on its location to Alghero (and didn't hire a car) we were somewhat disappointed to have to trek to go for a meal. However, it kept us fit and a taxi back to the villa was only 16-18€, so cheaper than a hire car.

The crows - every morning at or around dawn several crows fly in and peck the window of the bathroom downstairs. If you leave the door open be prepared to be woken up as they're rather noisy when they hammer their beaks into the window, but with doors shut you don't hear them.
The chimney draw fan - in strong winds this makes a bit of noise (a constant knocking sound) above the master bedroom but we only really noticed this on a couple of occasions when going to sleep, and when the wind dropped the noise stopped completely.
Rubbish - all rubbish needs to be taken into town daily as there is no collection service.
In summary, my wife and I would visit this villa again as it was so nice and peaceful, but we would be a little more prepared in terms of what we'd take with us, and would also hire a car!

Stunning villa, set in beautiful grounds with an immaculately clean good sized pool, surrounded by olive trees.
The villa was well equipped for a family holiday. This villa is off the beaten track, which suited us perfectly.
Lovely shaded patio area (great for breakfasts!) and large bbq area.
The villa itself is spacious and homely, with fabulous views of the local countryside.
The photographs in the advert do not do this lovely villa its full justice.
