We stayed here for two weeks in June, 2014. It is situated 200 metres from the Lido beach. The best things with the hotel is the lovely garden, the really friendly staff and their very tasty food. We didn't find a better restaurant during our stay in Alghero. The breakfast was good. The rooms are ok but we missed a fridge and a possibility to e.g make our own coffee. Also there are only Italian TV-channels.
As I said earlier the garden is really wonderful and it is very nice to sit there and read and enjoy the nice pool. Try to get a room facing the pool. The family that built the hotel is still working there and are very keen on taking care of their guests.
The nearest beach is not that good, but after a fifteen minute walk you reach a beautiful beach called Maria Pia. The sunbeds are really expensive here, but there are free areas.
I really recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: Book a room facing the pool.

Having just returned from our stay in the beautiful hotel la playa I can highly recommend it to both couples & families.
We were made feel very welcome and our second floor room had a very nice view of the pool area.
We only ate in the restaurant once for our evening meal and I couldn't fault it.
Great location & spotlessly clean!
I wouldn't definitely return & recommend to all my friends.

This was our first visit to Alghero and the hotel la playa was a real find. The ladies on reception were extremely helpful and genuinely caring. We were lucky enough to get a pool view room. Yes, the dog barks early but this is a family run business and what do other reviewers expect the owners to do- kill the dog?? Yes the rooms are simply furnished but spotlessly clean and we loved the towels. The pool area is lovely with very well kept gardens. We had a delicious salad Nicoise by the pool on our last day and watched the owner pick the fresh basil and fennel for it. If you are a sun bather, the loungers were the best I have experienced with an adjustable canopy which makes shading your face easy. I agree with some other reviewers who say they will return. I am already looking forward to booking another trip.

Family hotel close to the beach area. The rooms are basic but have everything you need. We could not find any English TV programs, though this was not a problem for us. Don't expect fluffy towels as they resemble large tea towels, but do dry you in the end. Same selection at breakfast every day, but good quality and plenty of it. We did not eat in the restaurant because we thought it a bit expensive. The pool area was not very big, but very clean and the garden was colourful and shady. Hotel staff very helpful and friendly. The title refers to the owners pet dog which began barking at about 6.30 every morning and the chiming of their clock at 7.00, so no chance of a lie in without earplugs. Caught the local but from the airport (cost 1 euro) which dropped us off at the train station which was about a 5min walk from the hotel.
