“Good location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2012

My first package holiday for years with 2 weeks on half board here. The hotel is a 70's (?) block. Our rooms were on the top (3rd floor), overlooking the large pool. It was a single room, with a double bed, not huge but with a large balcony, although the hotel only provided basic furniture. The room was adequate although the sound proofing wasn't great. The shower is large, with lots of hot water. There is aircon, but I never needed to use it. You can also apy for a key to the in-room safe deposit, but again it wasn't needed.

Personally I found the breakfasts less than adequate as I don't eat cereal or a cooked breakfast every day. A better choice of fruit would have been good. It took till week 2 to get bananas at breakfast but if you like cakes ....... The evening meal was a buffet, with the emphasis on pasta but with one meat and usually one fish choice as well. There was plenty of food and the waitresses were brilliant.

The pool is large and there were plenty of sunbeds. The piano bar has a happy hour after dinner but the entertainment was dire. The second week it was very busy as the hotel was the base for a wheelchair tennis tournament. The hotel operates a card system for payment of drinks etc but you can follow your running total. There is a bar and disco that were not in use when I was there, so it felt like half of the public areas were not being used. The hotel also has self catering units but they have their won pool and bar area. Access to wi-fi is not free and limited to the public areas. The hotel is about a 30 minute walk from the town of Alghero. The little train goes there in the morning, back at lunchtime and again in the evening. the bus that stops outside does not seem to have a timetable but if you can manage to catch it it is cheap. Evening visits to the town meant hiring a taxi, €10 each way, between a group of us.

The best bit is the beach, a long sandy beach through the pine trees literally over the road from the hotel. The hotel hires beach towels.

I enjoyed my stay there and the weather was great.

Room Tip: Facing the pool, not the front of the hotel.

Very good value Italian hotel. Hotel rooms, common areas, pool and surroundings are all very clean. Rooms are adequate in size with an above standard bathroom (large walk in shower attached). Noise can be heard from the next room so it is pot luck as to your neighbours. Restaurant has a good selection for breakfast and an adequate choice of starters and main courses for evening meal. Desserts are limited. All food is very well cooked and presented. Reception and restaurant staff are very efficient, courteous and friendly. 5 mins walk to lovely beach and 40 mins to town centre. There are 3 supermarkets close together about 20 mins walk away.
Alghero is a very interesting town, as is Bosa. The whole week at the Oasis was a very pleasant experience and one i would recommend to anybody looking to relax in very pleasant surroundings.

Room Tip: Ask for an odd number room on the 2nd floor with a pool view.

Having always wanted to go to Sardinia we chose this hotel just outside Alghero and we certainly made the right choice it was everything we hoped it would be and come to that so was Sardinia itself. We cannot fault the hotel in any respect, we requested a nice room as we were celebrating our 45 wedding anniversary and they put us in room 201 which overlooked the pool and nightclub - which incidentely could be a bit noisy some nights but we are not "old foggys"!! The room was large with a lovely balcony and modern bathroom . All were kept extremely clean each day by efficient staff who noted that on the first evening 1 pillow was not enough as we put the bed covers underneath it. The next day 2 more pillows were produced. All the staff could not do enough for the guests and were very friendly. The food was excellent with such a wide choice for both breakfast and evening meals. Anyone that likes fish will be in their element - the king prawns were to die for as was the salmon. There was a great variety of other meats and of course plenty of italian pasta dishes of all sorts together with a great selection of salad to suit all tastes. The cakes were scrumptious even though they were only available at breakfast which was a great shame. The resturant was very large with air conditioning and the maitre "d" ran it to perfection. There is a large swimming pool with two jacuzzies which was monitored by a "life guard" all day. The pool, surrounding areas and the hotel grounds were kept immaculate. There are also apartments in the grounds as well as another swimming pool together with a childrens playground and a mini golf. There is a Pizza Cafe and also a small mini mart. O.K. so the Oasis is not on the beach but no problem the beach is only a few moments walk away across the road through the pinetrees. As we wanted a relaxing holiday only having 1 week vacation we chose two days out. The first into Alghero itself which is a lovely town to Walk around and get the atmosphere of Sardinia and then sit along the key front. Its too far to walk into Alghero but a small train runs from the hotel twice a day (rather like the train on Bournemouth seafront) The other day out was to Bosa and Rocca Doria. Both these places we thoroughly remommend. Bosa is a very pretty little place with cobbled streets and looks like its in a time warp. Rocca Doria sits high on a rock with fantastic views over the lake and valleys and is where we were introduced to the art of Sardinian Bread making. This does'nt sound much but it blows your mind with their expertise and whatsmore you can have a go yourself and bring your product home to keep as a memento. If you can imagine a wedding bouquet of flowers completely made out of bread you will get the gist on what we mean. You really have to see it to believe it - as its amazing and if someone started this in u.k. they would make a fortune. Of course they would need the correct flour!! At this point in time only Thomson Holidays do this particular tour - BRILLIANT.
So if you want a tast of Italian hospitality and good food at its best then do stay at the OASIS you will certainly not regret it!!!. Heres to the next time.

There is a lot to recommend this hotel (as you'd expect from a property on the Thomson roster) and in many respects it is a very good hotel but is a bit like the proverbial curate's egg - good in parts; poor in others (a three and half star verging on a four).

Firstly the good bits: roomy, clean, basic rooms with what appear to be newly-fitted modern and spotless bathrooms with a fabulous power shower. The staff are friendly and helpful and the daily room service extremely efficient. Room furnishings are a bit on the older side but not tired for all that although it might be time to replace the TVs with FSTs (excellent reception by the way with BBC World News for the Brits) . My room had a large, sunny terrace over looking the pool and, although a single, also benefited from a small double bed.

Breakfast was fine with a decent choice of hot and cold food (classic catering-for-all European breakfast buffet) although bizarrely (and this hotel is a little bizarre) no sauces in sight for a full-English!

The pool area is outstanding. Spotlessly clean, surrounded by clipped lawns and complemented by very modern pool-side furniture (and plenty of it) for the bathers and sun bathers.

There is also a mini-mart and two bars and tennis courts on site although I didn't use any of these.

Finally - excellent value for the B and B rate I paid.

The bad points: poor communications really. The rooms lack any hotel information (no cards; no booklets to explain how it is run). For example you cannot buy drinks at the bar without first purchasing a kind of in-house tab card. You need to rent a pool towel. No issue with this but it is just not explained. The main gate closes sometime after midnight with no information as to how to get it in (I was told there is a buzzer after I had climbed the gate to get in at 4am one morning - not a huge issue as I am more than capable of climbing a 12' gate!). You have to pay to use the wi-fi in reception. Even though I visited in mid-September the place had a bit of an end-of-season feel to it. For some reason they also charge a 10 cent surcharge for the 1E bus tickets (odd really). There is a large public bar space inside the hotel (as well as one outside around the pool) but the indoor one was shut and never used. Yes the outdoor one was noisy with entertainment until midnight most nights but then for me that was a fair trade off for having a west-facing room over the pool and my trusty earplugs were on the hand on the few nights I was having an early night. I carry 'em everywhere!

Location: Right across the road from the least-spoiled beach in the area with plenty of free space alongside a couple of beach bars and service areas with sun loungers . White gently shelving sand and calm clear blue sea (very nice). The downside to this is that you are a good 40 minutes (nice) walk from the historic centre and I wish I had hired a bike as the bus service, while cheap and modern and near the hotel, can be wildly unreliable and stops before 9pm in mid-September. That said, there are plenty of bars and shops within a short walk of the hotel.

Room Tip: Alghero is not particularly expensive but there are a few local bars just on the fringes of the Cent...

There is so much that is good about this hotel, i.e. the staff, the food, the swimming pools, it's closeness to a beautiful beach, the rooms are basic but a good size and an excellent bathroom, so what are the negatives which made it disappointing, mainly the noise, it's a very noisy hotel, and by that I mean that the walls are so thin you can hear every bit of talking, laughing, children crying etc, coming from the rooms next to you and at 1-30 in the morning it's no joke. Other negatives, the pool bar needs updating (and is also very noisy when the entertainment is on until 12 o'clock), also, it's distance from the lovely old town of Algero, no matter what the books tell you, it's a good 40 minutes walk so it's bit too far to go into town at night after the evening meal, Our request for a double bed was met by pushing two single beds together, not quite what we had in mind. So all in all, a bit disappointng. would we go back to the Oasis, no, but we would go back to Sardinia.

Hotel Oasis is a lovely hotel just outside Alghero the main town, accross the road to the hotel is a small pine forest , once you walk through the pine forest you reach a beautiful beach, white sand blue sea.
The staff at the Oasis are very helpful and friendly and will do all they can for you, the food is fantastic.
This is our fifth time at the Oasis, and will be going back next year, it just feels so good and relaxing

I have just returned from a week at the Hotel Oasis. Its 3 star and the basic level of the rooms reflect this though the shower was great and no problems getting hot water it had a double bed so was fine. The food and staff were wonderful and made up for the small room . I was travelling as a single so with no supplement to pay I didnt mind the smaller than average room. The evening entertainment is horrendous the organ player does not speak english or know the words to any of the songs he sings, there is a bar called Santa Cruz that is a 10 min walk along the beach which has a fantastic atmosphere and is well worth checking out.

Room Tip: Ask for room over looking pool as the ones over the car park get noisy
