“3 Star, not 4 Star”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 26, 2011

Stayed here for 4 nights in one bed apartment (Room 427) beside main hotel and in general it was fine. It is a 3 minute stroll to the beach and there is a very convenient supermarket literally across the road. The room was very spacious but in need of redecoration. For example, the light on the balcony didn't work and there was no cover over the light. The fan in the bathroom was covered in dust and obviously hadn't been cleaned for a good while. The shower door was very flimsy and there was something like mould on the bottom of the shower door. The unit beside the cooker ring was scorched and was in need of replacement. These are the sort of things which should be addressed before guests arrive in order to qualify for a higher rating.

Now, that's the bad stuff out of the way. As I said it was close to the beach and a good 20 minute stroll to the old port of Alghero along a lovely promenade. The bus from the airport (Route AA) stopped about 5 minutes from the hotel outside a pharmacy on Via Don Minzoni. It only costs €1 if you buy your ticket in the airport at a machine beside the exit at arrivals. However, as in my case the machine wouldn't work and you had to pay an extra 50c to the driver on board the bus. Still, much better value than €25 in a taxi for a 15 minute trip.

I feel I got value for what I paid but the hotel is definitely not a 4 star premises. One other thing that people should be aware of is the electric sockets in Sardinia. The standard European adaptor does not fit into the sockets on the wall. You have to buy a local 3 pin adaptor which slots into the sockets and you then insert your European adaptor into this. One other quaint local tradition is the nigh impossibilty to have a meal in a restaurant during the afternoon. they seem to serve upto around 3pm and don't serve food again until 7pm. We were hoping to have a meal around 5pm as our flight was at 9.30pm but ended up having a pizza on a beach cafe!

Alghero airport is quite small with very limited facilities, particularly after you go past security. There is literally nowhere to buy drink or food after security apart from an over priced vending machine. There are shops and bars before security so I'd recommend staying out there until you have to go for your flight.

Have to say, Alghero and Sardinia are lovely places to visit and have a real Mediterrean atmosphere. The old town in Alghero is a maze of small inter twining streets and is really spectacular at night. I'd recommend a visit and hope to return again.

Room Tip: Air conditioning was an extra €60 per week but as it cooled down nicely at night time, it wasn't...

This rather large hotel is good, in a quiet environment on a perfect location for beachlovers. Good service, good breakfast, adequate rooms. No drawbacks. Parking in the street during the day can be a problem, due to the nice beaches around the hotel.

Decent enough place to stay, rooms were pleasant. - albeit the dated decor! About a 15min walk from the old town and the beaches nearby weren't the nicest in alghero due to the ongoing maintenance work.
There was one lady in particular at the reception desk (petite, long dark hair, glasses) who was a darling - always greeted with a smile.
Only negative was that cant check in until 2pm which is inconvenient if your flight comes in at 9am like ours did!

We stayed there in the beginning of May, only for one night. We had an appartment with a small kitchen; everything was clean. The hotel charges extra supplement for the air condition and even if you don't clean the kitchen(!!!!). The old city town is some 20 - 25 min walking distance (a nice walk trough the riva). The parking is also on the street (since we were not in the turist season time, there was plenty of space). The reception does not work 24h, but there is always a security or someone who you can leave the key if leaving early)

We stayed here for 4 nights. We found the rooms very clean and of a good size.
It has been mentioned a few times about where the toilet is located, but it seems that Rina is not unique in that respect. The breakfast was decent too. A good selection of stuff to choose from, cereals, toast fruit, eggs sometimes bacon and sausages etc.
As it turned out I was not particularly fond of the food but I am sure most people would find something to suit their taste.
We were in a room on the street side of the hotel, so on one hand you had a bit of noise from traffic at night, on the other hand you had a view of the sea when you woke up.
The pool area is kind of sheltered by buildings on either side so you couldnt just pick a spot and expect to lie in the sun all say, you would need to move to the other side of the pool in the afternoon.
To sum it all up - clean, probably less expensive than similar accomadation, located 150m from the beach and your room won't have a kettle and they ask you not to put anything in the mini bar.

We had a 2 week summer holiday here with Thompson holidays. The hotel was really good. We had a family room for all 4 of us (Mum, Dad, a 13yr old and 11yr old). There was plenty of room and the en suite shower room was more than sufficient. Our room was on the pool side of the hotel which was better then the road side which had noise from deliveries to the supermarket opposite. The hotel was spotlessly clean and all the staff were friendly and helpful and of course their english was also excellent The food was good italian fare with plenty of choice even for fussy eaters and there was loads of it. We were on half board and didn't need lunch! For those who need lunch there are loads of nearby pizzarias or the supermarket opposite has plenty of choice for a picnic lunch. Drinks at the hotel were typical hotel prices, and there is a credit card type system to pay for them. Your have a hotel credit card given to you on arrival and all drinks in the bar and restaurant go on to it. The receipts each time do give you a running total but beacuse you are not parting with cash each time it could be easy to build up a large bill. The swimming pool was also lovely and clean but could have been a little warmer. It's patrolled by a lifeguard who was keen to spot if you didn't wear your swimming hat! The pool is only open while the lifeguard is there, 9.30am-1pm, 3-7pm which is probably good as the main pool is very deep, out of adult depth. The childrens pool is about 1m deep. The hotel is only 100yrds away from the beach and seafront, essential for the after diner stroll. The beach was generally very busy with many Italians on holiday here. The old town is about 20 mins walk away for shopping (limited if you live to shop) and there are loads of boat trips available from here. As adults we were very happy with the location of the hotel and the resort, the children weren't too board and we would all happily go back again.
