Description: Sa Mesa is now in the Alghero's old town has a gazebo on the street with 60 seats and about 40 seat inside. The Sardinian kitchen is our speciality, we are very famous for our sukling pig with roasted potatoes.

The location isn't so pretty (supermarket car park) but once inside it really doesn't matter. Truly welcoming staff, fantastically presented dishes with taste to match and reasonable prices. The mixed starter has so much more than other restaurants, order to share - there's lots of it. The pig was succulent, the crackling divine. Beware the chilli in the braised steak - it's small but deadly.
We've been to this restaurant under the previous 2 owners/managers, not a pitch on Sa Mesa who have created something special. It should be on everyone's list.

This restaurant is not in the old town but up the street by the grocery store. It has a nice covered patio. Prices are good. They serve typical Sardinian food and a lot of it! Come hungry. The porcetto was mouthwatering and amazing. Highly recommend

Sa Mesa is great in every way. The covered patio is a great place to spend the evening. The staff was friendly and attentive, but never intrusive. We had the the 4 course "tasting menu." Food was served in large portions, and we couldn't finish it all. The main course, the mixed grill, included beef steak, pork cutlets and sausage. Great quality and well prepared. Skip the touristy restaurants in the Centro Storico and head for Sa Mesa instead.

This restaurant is hidden gem of Alghero, it boasts of perfect service, pleasant waitresses who speak good English and genuine Sardinian cuisine. Prices are very reasonable and quality of food is amazing, we had menu degustazione Sa Domo and it was plenty of food for very good price including wine and water.Food was very delicious, cold cuts were very tasty and pasta also, by the time we got meat plate, we were almost full :-) The only negative that we agreed upon with my boyfriend was that the meat we had could have been done better, but we love doing beef at home so we just prefer it our way :-)My only small disappointment was caused by the fact that this restaurant is actually on a parking lot,but there is nothing you can do about it, so it didn't affect the rating of my review...

The service was warm and the prices very reasonable for Alghero. The menu is all about meat and the staple dishes are the mixed salumi platter and the mixed grill main course, neither of which we had but it looked good as it was ferried to other tables! When guide books talk about Sardinian food they often talk about dishes like cordula (sheeps intestines) which I have never seen on a menu here. So finally I got a chance to try it and very good it was too - delicate and tender. Rabbit with olives for main course is also good (and a bargain at 7 euros). Various dishes with horse and donkey are also here, Hence why we passed on the mixed grill so as not to offend my daughter. So its very nearly an excellent - but why on earth does a restaurant like this have 2 large TV screens showing Italian TV. Get rid of the screens!
