Visiting this restaurant is a fabulous experience. Besides the authentic Italian food (for a good price), Giuseppe (the owner and chef) and his lovely family know how to make people feel welcome. We came in and feared another 'tourist treatment' - but not in this restaurant. Giuseppe comes to every table to see if his guests are enjoying the food and tells something about the origin of it. The way you are being welcomed in this restaurant is extraordinary and guarantees a smile on every face and a full tummy.

Nice detail: the wine and grappa is made by family of Giuseppe.

Set in a very old vaulted room. Attractive whitewashed decor with good quality Sardinian craft items displayed. Food was too salty. Lack of fresh vegetables in menu.

A truly great addition to my holiday. When entering you'll notice this is a small well restored old building. The lighting is allright the walls are plastered and the tables are clean. We decided after a bad experience with so called tourist menus to order from the Italian menu. A young lad tried to explain us the things in English we didn't know on the menu. When he couldn't manage he called for the cghef/cook who was able to provide us with an explanation of the menu. The food came in good portions and was typically Sardinian. Very tasty! It appeared this restaurant is run by the chef (who worked all over the wordl) and his south-Korean wife. The young lad was his son who was helping during his holdays. The wine was very nice and apparentely made by the owner's brother who owns a vineyard near Oliena in Sardinia. The owner explained he tries to only use products from his own region of the island in order to create the authentic taste. After duinner he asked his wife to put a bottle of mirto and grappa on our table and told us to help ourselves (the grappa was his brother's make obviousely) when we wanted to leave the owner invited us for one last drink (while he took one himself) and told it made him happy to meet people from all over the world in his resaurant. After some pictures and well wishes me and my girlfriend went home with a smile. A truly warm welcome in the oldtown of Alghero. Will be continued!

We were delighted both by the service and the food. The chef agreed to make a soup for our baby even though it was not in menu. Swordfish in tomato souce was the best non-fried fish I have ever had in my life. Excellent local wine and wonderful tiramisu for dessert. We did enjoy the way coffee was served too. Perhaps a bit more expensive than the Alghero average but worth the difference. NB. If you use the "DK eyewitness travel" guide to Sardinia, edit. 2011, the restaruart is referred to as La Cuina on Via Cavour which is in fact Via Carmen if I remembe correctly!
