Firstly as other reviewers have pointed out when you first walk into the restaurant it does look a little unusual and some what off putting. Venture up the stairs and into the main dining room and you will be pleasantly surprised. A lovely cosy atmosphere with the most welcoming staff. You can feel the professionalism and sense that this place is the real deal.
The cooking is outstanding and the prices reasonable for the high quality dishes that are turned out in this fascinating establishment .
Street ahead of the rest !

We came back to 'Al Tuguri' after several years to find the same tasty dishes prepared with fresh and personality by the chef Mr. B. Carbonella. This restaurant is to be recommended not only for the quality of its food, but for the friendly atmosphere conveyed by Mr. Carbonella and his staff. Very efficient and nice service. 'Al Tuguri' is also a very good value for money.

We were aware of the restaurant in our guidebook and with great expectations we booked table.
We ordered fish menu and was pleasantly surprised. We were recommended a local white wine, which was fantastic. It was a nice evening with delicious beautifully arranged dishes.
The restaurant is definitely commendable.

This is a small and very cosy resto. We tried the tasting menu and were not disappointed - everything was delicious. Great food, great wine, great atmosphere (although mostly tourists) in a cosy place.

We were really very excited at the prospect of eating at Al Tuguri. Two friends had independently recommended it and the menu read well.

Our hearts sank when we walked through the door. The ground floor was spookily deserted and nobody came to welcome us. The decor is sadly dated - a characteristic of so many restaurants in Sardinia and indeed Italy. We took a deep breath, tried not to pre-judge and climbed the stairs to the first floor where the kitchen and half the tables are situated. A slightly annoyed looking waiter guided us up another flight of stairs to the top floor where a funereal atmosphere prevailed and we joined the other tables-for-two amidst a depressing riot of 'bric-a-brac' and dark green chintz napery. Hideous.

The food was good. We ordered the 'From the Sea' and 'From the Land' menus, but there was something oddly dispassionate about the dishes which was mirrored in the service. We were certainly made to feel like vaguely irritating tourists rather than welcome guests. Best dishes were the lamb chops cooked over myrtle (we think), two colour linguine with skate and a primo of the three beautiful pieces of fish (bass, marlin and wreckfish) cooked over fire. Even so, we won't return - the surroundings and service were a Real turn off.
