We ended up having dinner at this place only because all other restaurants were full (Ferragosto in Itlay, you can imagine!), without hopes and expecting a burger+fries joint... the name and look of the place were not very promising. However we enjoyed the best pasta we had during our two weeks in Sardinia. Let me recommend to you the spaghetti allo scoglio. Yes, I did not try anything else so my opinion is definitely biased, but this pasta was EXCELLENT.

We had a couple of drinks in this bar, we went early evening about 7,as we had been shopping in the town, we just found it a little flat, drinks were quite expensive [about twenty two euros]and it just lacked atmosphere, service was ok nothing to write home about. We didnt eat here to be fair, and we sat inside as it was a bit breezy when we visted, so maybe in the summer it has more of a vibe.

On our last night of a four day stay in Alghero we decided to try the Jamaica Inn, waiting patiently like little children at Christmas for the place to open in the early evening. Once inside we thought the bar/restaurant was appealing and lively....nice reggae music playing and the atmosphere seemed to be good and the waiter was friendly. Once we had ordered our drinks, including the obligatory Guiness, we decided on a seafood platter and a cottelet Milanese (living in Germany, this translates to a Wiener Schnitzel - something I found out after it arrived, but you can put that down to my own ignorance) The seafood platter was uncooked, partially battered and possibly shown to the pan but not actually fried in it....maybe it was laid next to the pan. Needless to say, it was cold and the prawns had huge heads but very small bodies. This was only the beginning of the end....the Cottelet Milanese was quite possibly at one point the leather from someones shoe that had fallen off in the street and had been seen as an opportunity to dip in breadcrumbs and offer on a plate to unsuspecting tourists and the fries were hypothermic (I suspect they were close relatives of the shrimp and had shared their last moments together laying side by side next to the frying pan)......for a meal for two people that ended up coming close to 50 Euros, I can only say....Never again. Maybe the place gets good reviews as a bar, but if the reviews for the food are all the same, i.e Negative, then maybe someone would mention this to the owner before some of his clients end up meeting bob (marley) in the afterlife due to food poisoning. We ate at a great authenic pizza place about 20 feet away, for about a third of the cost and the food was excellent.
