“Good fishrestaurant”
Reviewed October 26, 2011

We went on wednesday evening for dinner to al Canale. We ate the antipasta, linguine vongole, fettucine scampi and fish à la sal. All the dishes were good. But we found everything went a little bit too fast.

“Very good food but...”
Reviewed July 26, 2011

We were recommended Al Canale by friends and were pleased that we went there as the food was very good. Highly recommend the antipasto della casa and the pasta dishes such as tubettini alla cozze - fresh and very tasty. The mussels in Taranto are truly excellent - tarantine cozze - we thoroughly enjoyed them even though we are not big on mussels. The price is not bad by Italian std but relatively cheap when compared to Australia, UK or the States. The only displeasing experience at Al Canale is the annoying practice of the owner who sits at the cash register and smokes his cigarette even though the restaurant is already opened for trading - very poor!
The restaurant whilst not architecturally impressive at all, is well located by the canal with a nice view if you are seated outdoors. Parking is not difficult and you don't need to buy a ticket - although you may want to tip the self appointed parking guy - 50 cents or 1€ will do.

“Fabulous Seafood and Service”
Reviewed September 18, 2010

By far one of the finest dining experiences i have had in over 30 trips to Italy. The food was exceptional, the scene spectacular and the service impeccable. The freshest mussels and seafood cooked to perfection, Delicious fis, calamari made the traditional way. Inexpensive by American standards for what you got and the way it was served. pastas were perfect and the clams out of this world, a beautiful blend of flavors. Definately a hot spot as there were many elegant and very "hip" people there! If you are even near this city you'd be a fool not to go to Il Canale
