The best food we had during our week in Bari, and, not coincidentally perhaps, the most expensive. We were fortunate to be accompanied by a couple who spoke Italian fluently, so we ordered based on a conversation with the owner rather than picking from the menu. The food was delightful, fit for foodies. Though the prices were a little more than we had paid at other restaurants, they were quite reasonable by big-city USA standards. Indeed, the same meal at a restaurant capable of serving it up in Washington, DC, would have been 50% more, at least.

Owner and staff friendly and know their wines and their foods. Always open, outdoor seating on a charming piazza

One of our cruise stops was Bari, Italy and I had pretty much written this off as a waste of a day.But we were delightfully surprised how much we loved strolling around the old town. We wanted to taste some local cuisine and began looking for places with lots of locals and chanced upon La Cecchina -- and it was just a perfect fit for our family of 8 -- some wanted exceptional food and some wanted a romantic setting -- and we got both and at a reasonable price for the variety of food we purchased. We had numerous appetizers, water, wine, and generous entries for app $30/ pp. Everything was very delicious and it felt like we were inside an old castle. The staff was very friendly and helpful and spoke English. Our only complaint was that some of the food took a little longer than we had hoped.. but we understand that quality cooking takes time. I don't normally recommend restaurants, but this was worth a review. I'm keeping the card and next time in Bari will come and eat here again.

Antipasto misto huge disappointment. Rubbery mozzarella, smoked mackerel, no meats, tasteless savouries. Followed by very indifferent pasta. Expensive. With final cheap trick - credit card reader 'would not work'. Not worthy of a beautiful location in a gorgeous city.

Love love love the food in this place! Huge wine selection with many locally produced wine choices.

Our meal was delicious and we ate inside the 1200yr old dwelling.. this made for a very romantic setting. There are seats out the front but it gets busy in the courtyard so we wanted a quieter spot inside.

Great location at the entrance to the old city so plenty of charm and character in this area.

Go enjoy a very well priced meal in a top spot with friendly profficent staff to help you.
