Description: La Locanda di Federico is a "restaurant with the spirit of the inn": the cuisine is of a high restaurant, featuring a gourmet important research and the proposed dishes associated with the ancient culinary tradition of Bari and Apulia but revisited according to the schools thought most modern, the atmosphere created and pursued is typical of the old taverns, places of meeting, exchange, debate and conviviality. La Locanda is the combination of the warmth and friendliness typical of the taverns to the professionalism and sophistication of the typical restaurant.

My co-workers chose this as a fall-back solution for a business dinner and they booked a banquet dinner.

The food was great, the quantities huge, and (particularly since we were travelling from Scandinavia) the price was very low. The Scandinavians loved the seafood and the Italians in the group said this was like a local wedding feast. We were all impressed. So, if you come here and choose that option, be prepared to be surprised by a table full of plates. Plan to spend the evening as the many courses from the multiple servings of antipasti, to the second serving will take some time. Having visited northern Italy many times, what was really surprising and appreciated were the number of vegetable dishes, in particular, the local Puglia varieties are tasty.

We ended up having to drop the dessert, but we were given it on the way out. Even that was fabulous.

Have been here in Novembre 2012 with some friend that had an advise about the palce from a local journalist.
The advise was good, the place has a nice atmospher but what matters the most is the food, tipically local with that extra touch, excellent.
Do not miss the "antipati", let them decide, they depend on the season (wich is always a good sign) and are 7/8 different dishes to sahre.
After that we only took a half portion of pasta.
Price is not cheep but absolutely worth it.

We visited the ninth of November 2012 for lunch. Ordered our food and waited an hour. I had to run away to charge the parking. I came back an found the fishsoup looking as it have been. Picked up from the wastbin. Due to all the bones it was dagerous to eat. I complain but was told that this is how fish soup is done in Italy. That is not true. Fish soups are normally excellent in Italy.
So STAY AWAY

The location is great, in a lovely square in the old town, there are a few bars and restaurants in the square, but not overcrowded. The food was excellent, we do not eat meat but the seafood and vegetarian dishes are wonderful.

I had the hand-made orecchiette pasta with pesto. Fantastic! My boyfriend had---gulp!---the horse. As much as I hate to admit it, it was excellent. (Sorry, Trigger!)
