“Great Stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2013

We spent 3 very comfortable and relaxing nights there on the 29th July as part of our honeymoon. We found it to be spaceous, comfortable and definately worth the money we paid. The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans and there was also a supermarket and pizza place round the corner. It was a 10 minute walk to the station, abit further than this for the main town so not too far.

The only problem we had was that we don't travel with a mobile and were unaware we had to call in advance therefore had to wait 2 hours before we found a phone! This however was an error on behalf of the third party we booked with who should have disclosed this information. However bare this in mind and call in advance.

All in all a great stay and would highly recommend to others!

The place itself was quite good. It was like a mini-apartment, with a kitchen/dining area, bathroom and bedroom. Only 2 problems: firstly, the only air-conditioner unit was in the kitchen/dining area. There wasn't one in the bedroom. So we had to keep the air-con on for a few hours to let it cool the bedroom. I dread to think how it'll be like in the hottest months of summer. Surely it'll be more cost-efficient in the long run to install another air-con unit in the bedroom as well (or at least a fan!).

Secondly, there was a nice balcony from where you can see the street, however the blinds did not work all the way (we couldn't pull it all the way down), so people from the street outside or the building across could look into the apartment (luckily they could only look into the kitchen area and not the bedroom!).

The apartment was great other than that. It had a small fridge (not quite cold, possibly due to it being summer) and an adequate kitchen. It was definitely the most spacious place we've stayed at in Italy, and it was cheap too!

The other cons: on the day we checked in, we couldn't enter the hotel, as there was no one at the reception. Somehow we managed to open the gate (perhaps the last person who left did not shut it properly), but we had to bang on the front door for 15 minutes before another guest arrived and let us in, out of the hot sun (it was about 4 PM then, on a hot summer day). He told us that he had a similar experience on the day he arrived... after waiting for about an hour, the owner finally showed up and, without any word of apology, asked us why we did not call him! One: not every traveller has a phone we can use for calling when we're overseas. Two: the number to reach him at was pasted on the door to his office, which we will not be able to get to without entering the gate and main door.

Location: it was about a 10-minute fast walk from Verona train station (without any luggage). Double or triple that time if you're finding your way for the first time with luggage. It's south of the station, while the town centre is north, so it's about a half-hour trek to the town centre. It's much faster by bus, but you'll have to buy bus tickets in advance, which the hotel owner cannot provide, unlike in other hotels we've stayed at. The only reason we stayed here was that it's near the conference venue we were attending, as it'll be hard to go there all the way from the town centre early in the morning.

Lastly: the wifi was OK, however you can only use one device at a time. If you want to switch devices, you'll have to turn off the wifi on the device you're using, wait about 10-15 minutes before you can use another device.

Had trouble with taxi due to the fact the taxi driver thought we said Holiday Inn , which is 7 km outside of city, then we said this is too far and went to Verona Inn! After arriving we realized we could if walked! Anyways location is outside of city, aout 30 minutes walking, but we like to walk so didnt mind that, and Verona smells so good! There is a grocery market around the corner from the apt also. The manager met us and chequed us in with no problems that was all we saw of him. The apt. Was fine, large , good size bathroom, balcony, kitchen facility, clean. All in all was good with just one problem..the WI FI..we were on the top floor and it did not work inside the apt at all! The only area it work was outside the entry door to the apt which was very inconvienent! Otherwise enjoyable.

Room Tip: Top floor no wi fi service

The positives first. Unfortunately we were not able to arrive at our pre-arranged time, but we called the contact number, and it was not a problem arriving at 10.30 on a Saturday night. Martina speaks excellent English, and was very welcoming and helpful. The apartment had a lovely bathroom, very comfortable bed, and a full cooker and fridge with a kitchen table big enough for 4 people. The apartment is about a 20 minute walk from town, and is quiet at night. The heating is very effective, with enough hot water, and blinds that shut out all light and sound. Free unlimited wi-fi was very welcome.
Just a couple of negatives that stop me awarding 5 stars - there was no coffee maker (in Italy??!!), and the Italian hair-dryer provided did not plug into the Italian wall sockets, but apart from that, I would definitely recommend Verona Inn.

Oh what a surprise! thank you very much for your nice message. I am just a little bit upset as I want always a perfect stay for my guest (which become almost my friends as I love my job), but you see, I can not be so perfect and sometime me and my colleague we made mistakes... sorry for the inconvenience in your apartment about coffee maker and hairdryer plug... Anyway, I will wait for you another time, also at midnight, no problem!!!
Arrivederci,
Martina and All the VeronaInn Staff

It was a perfect trip and a perfect apartment! Near 4 bus stations and 15 min walk or one bus station to train station Verona Porta Nuova. There are 2 supermarkets close to Verona Inn and some caffee houses where the locals stop on the way to work for an expresso.

It was a bit tricky to find the inn at first, but we figured it out after a while. When we came there the service was good, and the staff was helpful and nice to us. We stayed there for three nights and the rooms were great. We were four friends traveling together, so two slept in twin beds in the bedroom and two on a (couch) bed in the kitchen/livingroom. All in all it was a nice and clean room/apartment. It's not in the centre of the city, but there are busses one can take back and forth. There is also both restaurants, take away and a Lidl store in walking distance.

We stayed here for 4 nights during a recent trip to northern Italy.

Pros: well priced, clean if basic accommodation with most of the facilities (including free wi-fi) you would expect on a short break. Helpful (if not entirely clued up) reception staff. Excellent local resto - Caffe Fiori, 58 Via Roveggia - check it out if you can't be bothered heading into the town.

Cons: a long way from the centre of things - unless you're here for the Fiera (exhibition area). The option is to walk or take a bus. Allow at least 20 minutes to walk to Porta Nuova train station and another 15 minutes to get to Piazza Bra. The walk is far from scenic.

The Verona bus schedule is, without doubt. the most puzzling, frustrating and downright illogical I have ever encountered. When we checked in, we were told there were only 2 buses to the town centre - nos 91 and 98 from Via Roveggia.

Wrong! There are in fact 5 buses to the centre. Nos 23, 24 and 73 operate during the day - up to around 8 pm. They offer a restricted service on Saturday and don't run on Sundays.

Nos 91 and 98 operate (weekdays and Saturday) from 8 pm and all day on Sunday.

Confused? You certainly will be. To avoid high blood pressure/marital breakup, I strongly suggest you have a very close look at the ATV website before you go.

Otherwise, no complaints.
