We had a very pleasant stay for four nights at Corte San Mattia, which has a unique location with a spectacular view over Verona. The staff was attentive and helpful, the breakfast was very good, and the dinner was definitely value for money. We didnøt stay in the main house, but in the related property a short 3 minutes walk away, but we thought the this was even better and more quitefull. The room was large, clean and with a fantastic bathroom too. Should we ever return to Verona, we would definitely consider staying at Corte San Mattia

Classic Italian farmstay property with gorgeous view of Verona old town. Set in the hills immediately north of the city centre, its only about a 5-minute drive to the main sights, but you'll feel far enough away from it all as the property is set in its own land including olive trees and a vineyard.(there's also an hourly bus that goes to the city centre - 2 euros each way. You could walk if you're feeling fit, but the hill is a bit steep and there isn't pavement all the way along)
Rooms are great. We had a two-bedroom apartment with tiles floor and wooden roof beams. It was clean, spacious and had a kitchenette and decent sized bathroom. There was a small balcony with a view towards Verona.
Staff were welcoming and friendly and most seemed to speak English (if you needed it).
Being a 'proper' agriturismo (farmstay) and not just a barn the farmer has converted into rooms, San Mattia serves its own food and wine in the restaurant. The bread and cakes are all homemade in the breakfast buffet and the jams and honey deserve a special mention although you'll have to remove the beeswax yourself. We ate in the restaurant one evening and it was really good. The caserecce pasta with ground beef was particularly good, and the burger was large enough to feed a small army. The 4-glasses-of-wine tasting menu was great with each bottle described at the table. Lovely sparkling white to start with. Warning - watch out for the 'amarone' - a couple of glasses of that and you'll be dancing down the hill to try and sing in the Arena. At 16% it's almost port, a velvety cuddle in a glass - well worth a try. You can buy the wines (and jams) at the hotel if you've forgotten what they tasted like the next day.
The view is to die for and you can hear the opera from the Arena in the distance if you are there during the season - about as romantic as you can get. Plenty of families there, pets welcome and free parking. No pool, but if you are in Verona and sitting by the pool, you are wasting your time. Highly recommended, I'd definitely go back.

Absolutely the most perfect spot to stay in Verona. Overlooks the city of Verona. Everyone at the Agriturismo was so very welcoming and pleasant to speak with. Food was so delicious. The private wine tour of their facilities is a must while you are there. We would definitely come back again as we’ve only been gone a few hours and miss Verona already.

Everything was fantastic - the staff, the food, the location, the house, the view. Just perfect! Words cannot describe the experience we had. I am sorry only that I’ve stayed for just one night. But I’m confident that we’ll be back.
