We stayed in an apartment at San Mattia for several days. It was an excellent base for visiting Verona, Vicenza and the Lakes. We had the benefit of being really near the city but not in the middle of everything.
The place was airy, large and spotlessly clean; garage parking in the shade; breakfast and dinner if we wanted it; good internet connection.
Staff were friendly and helpful at all times; spoke perfect English and were full of local knowledge to help us enjoy our trip.
We will use the place again when we return to Verona.

Best view in town (although not every navigation system easily finds the place), great sitting outside on a warm night overlooking the whole city. Excellent food at very friendly prices (4 course dinner menu 25€, bottle of homegrown wine 8€), friendly staff, 2 floors of nice rooms (the lower ones with view terraces). The annex about 400m away cannot be recommended (far away, not too peasant surroundings, narrow staircase). Plenty of areas to sit inside and outside. Free Wifi works around the lobby.
They also have a shop where they sell their wine and other organic products.

My family of 3 stayed for 2 nights at the Agriturismo San Mattia and it was wonderful! The front desk staff were so great - a special thanks to Silvia for all her help and hospitality! Our room was very large and immaculate. The location is just stunning with views over Verona. Our room did not overlook the city, as there were no triple rooms with the view, but still it was nice. Our room opened up to a little private garden area and was frequented by the resident cats who liked to nap in our garden. Breakfast was good, again with beautiful views over the city. Coming from a gardener, the grounds are just spectacular. Lavender growing everywhere. It's very relaxing! We loved the resident small dogs who in a way helped show us around. It made us feel at home. Our only regret was that we did not have time to have a meal at the restaurant, and we heard good things about the food. We would not hesitate to come back, it was just awesome. I was reluctant to leave this review because I don't want the place to become too popular so we can get a room again some day! One very important tip though: if your GPS tells you to turn up a road that looks very narrow, a one-lane alley almost, DON'T GO ! Our GPS was WRONG, which has never happened before. It took us up an alley that served as a driveway for 2 houses and than after that becomes impassable. Really. It was extremely narrow, and then becomes too steep with giant rocks and holes so you cannot make it up the hill. We seriously scraped up our rental car. We had to back down the alley, because you cannot turn around - it's too narrow - it was a nightmare. After backing down the alley, we saw a sign that we believe said in Italian "do not enter, cars cannot pass". Ugh. The correct roads that take you to the Agriturismo are all paved and nice two-way roads.

Me and my husband were in Agriturismo San Mattia only for 2 Nights in the end of August 2011. First we wanted to make only one Night stop during our travel over Tuscany but excellent view, delicious cousine and really good wine ( made at the place ) convinced us to stay longer. Big rooms with garden view and ability to seat in the front of the room with feet on the grass and wine glass in hand was fabiolous. Our stay was there so pleasant that we will be coming over and over again.

Room Tip: Rooms with directly garden access are the best to stay in.

My fiance and I stayed here for 2 nights at the end of August and we are so glad we did. It's just outside Verona, in the hills. There is a parking garage (free) but if you don't have a car there is a regular bus that stops just outside that will take you to Verona and back. It's about a 7 minute journey I would say.

We had a double room with air con and views over Verona. We had french doors that opened out onto the garden so we could sit and read and relax outside in the great weather.

The room was light and decorated nicely, and the bathroom was really new. Great shower too.

The breakfast was a simple buttet affair, breads and cereal, tea and juice. They made us either scrambled eggs or boiled eggs too. My only critique would be that because of the relaxed atmosphere we did have to wait a while for coffee. Not too much of a problem for us!

We'd recommend eating dinner there too - we had a meal of 5 courses with a bottle of wine for 25 euro each, sitting outside overlooking Verona. It was amazing!

We've spent 4 days at San Mattia recently and we were satisfied with the place except for 2 things!

When you visit the internet site of the place it looks like all of the rooms face the beautiful views of Verona. I personally dreamt about sitting in front of my room against that view, relax with a book after a tiring day but unfortunately our room was at the back row of those who had the view, looked into more of a messy garden and the walls of the front row rooms. That was dissapointing. So if you're gonna go there, ask for the rooms that have the view!

Second problem for me was not being able to sleep with my windows open because there were lots of bugs around and no netting at the windows/doors. The rooms had air condition, but for those who react (like me!) to sleeping with AC on it was a bit of a problem. It was no fun waking up with sore throat every day in mid July!!

Other than all that...the view from the main dining area is amazing. It really is peaceful and feels far from the city yet it's only 5 minutes drive. So it's a great place for those who wants to have a calm place to come back to.

The staff was very friendly and smiley. The dinner we had at the place was absolutely delicious and we loved the eggs and natural yogurt with honey for breakfast!

The rooms were also very spacious and clean.

So we enjoyed our stay at San Mattia, but if i go to Verona again, perhaps I'd try another B&B.

I arrived at San Mattia on a Friday and when I walked through the reception towards the terrace, I saw the most amazing view of Verona, people were drinking and listening to the live band playing. I had a fantastic time there.
The family was really lovely and made our stay so easy, they were really helpful and personal. Also they make the best olive oil ever!
