Owner description: Built in the first century AD, this is one of the best conserved Roman amphitheatres, whose seating area is made up of 44 levels and can hold up to 22,000 spectators.
Reviewed January 3, 2014

The Arena is a Roman amphitheatre in Piazza Bra in Verona, Italy, which is famous for opera performances (seating 30,000 peeps).

COST
=====
6 euros, or 15 euros for a 2-day Verona card (which will admit you to most of the city's main attractions)

THE ARENA
==========
Despite an earthquake in 1117 that destroyed most of the arena's gates, the interior dating from the first century remains almost completely intact.

One of Europe's best preserved amphitheaters, and the view from the top tier offers a great view of the city.

Great architectural history.

PRO TIPS
========
*Bathrooms (separate for men and women) are located near the front entrance.
*Get in line early to avoid the afternoon crowds.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Need to return for an opera performance during the summer time.

Since it was already 20:00pm, I could not enter the inside of Arena. However, the Arena which was lit up was illusional. Also, since it was Christmas period, surroundings were also beautiful. I have to go there ealier and enter the inside at the next visit.

really interesting place, even in the rain, we loved wandering round and imagining how it was in Roman times. And the huge shooting star over the walls of the arena was spectacular, especially at night, and surprisingly not at all incongruous. Beautiful.

This Arena in the centre of Verona an amazing an amazing piece of Roman History it is pleasing to see it now serves a far greater role nowadays then what it was originally built for. Would love to hear Chris James from Australia perform here now that would be magic. You couldn't walk all the way around underneath as is blocked off but you walk all the way around in side the Arena and go across the centre. Looks very pretty on the outside at night all lite up and less people as well. Enjoy

Must see when in verona. Cost only 3 euros when we went and it was a beautiful day to sit and take everything in.
