Went to Verona on a day trip from Venice in late December and although I have visited before the light on the stone on the arena was fantastic. In the summer the light can be bright and harsh, but in the winter it has a softer tone and you get fantastic views up to the snow covered Alps from the top. It is still very reasonably priced to get in and the arena is very well looked after, though this could be due to it's use in the summer for opera productions. You also get good views over Verona from the top of the arena, a very interesting place with some interesting historical buildings. Well worth a visit at any time, but particularly nice in the winter sun.

Six euros entry per person is costly, but it is a fantastic arena. There is no real restrictions when you are in there, you just climb wherever you want. I could only imagine how fantastic a performance in there would be. The view from the top is majestic. Definitely worth a visit.

After learning this was apparently the third biggest arena in Italy, my fiancé and I thought this was a must. We were extremely disappointed, we paid €6 per person to get in, and I feel it wasn't even worth 2. You walk in and that's it. A big open field, just like a football stadium but a lot smaller and a lot less awe-inspiring. I think it was a huge waste of time, and we spent all of 5-10 minutes in there. Verona has a lot more things that is worth the time than this,

You can visit in the summer months to enjoy a beautiful opera or just during the rest of the year to look at the greatly preserved roman arena, walk around and get a nice view over town too!

We visited the arena in the centre of Verona over Christmas a new-year and this was such a brilliant building, full of history and a truly wonderful place. I am very much looking forward to visiting this in the Summer where i will enjoy some of the opera performances that do then at night.
