This is a little jewel! The concierge and management very friendly. Rooms quiet with the most efficient air conditioning I found in whole of Italy! Really! Close to the Historical palazzo and the river. Two things one might not visit if you stayed near Arena! I walked easily from the hotel all along river to the Arens, Juliette's balcony, piazza del Erbe etc. Very good breakfast included. masses of coffee keeps coming! lovely place, lovely people.

Room Tip: Any room should be fine.

We were very glad to have found Hotel Scalzi, and would certainly choose it again when we next come to Verona. Only 10 minutes walk from the arena - so convenient if you're in Verona for the opera. We were made very welcome when we arrived.

I think the hotels in this city are very over priced, probably due to the Verona Opera. This was one of the most expensive hotels we stayed in and the beds were small, the room was small and the bathroom was average, the hallways dark. Breakfast was served in a lovely interior garden, but it too was average. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Scalzi a couple of weeks ago for three nights and have to say I was very happy, the friendly staff all speak very good English and were always willing to help. The room was not the biggest but to be honest I doubt you will be in it much as there is so much to do and see. The location is very good, midway between the centre of town and the train station. Do try to get seats at the opera if you can, it is a great night out, I had reserved seats but to be honest the cheaper unreserved seats at the top of the arena are almost as good. You can also get a bus to Lake Garda from outside the train station that will tkae about an hour and a half.

Just good staying. There is no words to write about the hotel. Finaly, it is a good description. This is one of hundreds hotel in the centre of Verona with the same price as most of other city hotels. This one is not better or worse than the others. Staff was friendly and very polite.

We stopped here for a visit to the Opera for 3 nights with family; we had rooms 22 and 24 at the back of the hotel. All the rooms are on the first floor, and there is not a lift. I would class it as a boutique Hotel, and is small and family run. It is about a 10/15 walk from the Railway Station and about the same to the Piazza Bra, ideally located. The buffet breakfast in the courtyard was lovely, with a good selection of items. The room we were in was fairly small, but quiet, with really good and quiet air conditioning. The bed was firm but very comfortable. The only disconcerting thing was the sliding glass door to the toilet, quirky and unusual! The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and if we went back to Verona, we would definitely stop here again. It was also exceptionally good value compared to other hotels in Verona when the Opera is taking place.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back away from the main road

Hotel Scalzi and its owners Patrizia and Marco run a very clean and efficient hotel that is located close to the old castle of Verona. The advantage of its location should not be underestimated as you are able to obtain with the hotel adequate parking of your vehicle with the added plus of not needing to go into the prohibited city area where no vehicles are even permitted. You are within walking distance of where ever you need to go. More than this, the breakfasts provided are copious, buffet style. If at all possible book with Hotel Scalzi directly to obtain the best rates. If at all possible ask for one of their rooms off the courtyard for the ultimate experience of a serene and quiet environment. The owners mean to please and the care they take with their property and with their guests becomes immediately self-evident. We were fortunate to have room S-2 off the courtyard. A totally renovated and spacious unit.

Room Tip: Book early to obtain one of their units off their enchanting courtyard.
