Best Western Hotel Armando

8 of us have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Hotel Armando in Verona. The hotel was conveniently located for the Arena. There was a Hop on Hop off bus stop close by and we were only 5 minutes from Juliet's Tomb. Slight minus - We didn't ask for a disabled room but found ourselves in one regardless. Advantage of this was a larger than average standard room - disadvantage was a wet room rather than a bathroom which meant a minor lake after each shower. Facilities in the room were very good - there is a safe, large TV (but no Sky News or CNN sadly), a mini fridge with complimentary water (excellent touch) and a hair dryer in the bathroom. Enormous bed - quite hard but we found this very comfortable.

The staff were courteous and helpful. A small restaurant serving breakfast had a great range of cold products to eat - plenty of variety of bread to toast, fruit, yoghurts, pastries and cakes in abundance and a boiled egg griddle - providing the only hot offering in the morning but this didn't spoil the enjoyment of the breakfast. Bottles of fizzy and natural cold water on the buffet table were very much appreciated.

We would recommend this hotel to others if you want to be in a slightly quieter part of the centre of town - close to facilities but without the noise of late night revelry which you might find closer to the Arena. Arena was literally only 8 - 10 mins walk away so we felt we had the best of both worlds.

When we return to this beautiful city, we won't look further than the Hotel Armando.

We are two Australians (Yarra Valley, Victoria) just returned home from Verona (July 30th 2014); we stayed in Hotel Armando. We wish to thank the hotel staff for a most positive experience, and we happily recommend this hotel to other Aussies who may be wondering where to stay in this wonderful city. First impressions start at Reception, where we received a warm efficient welcome. This set the standard for the rest of our stay. Without exception, staff were friendly and helpful, and fortunately for us, were able to converse easily in English to provide directions etc. The window of our room, which was very clean and had fresh towels daily, opened onto the street; noise was not a problem despite the hotel being only a 5 min walk from the busy central Piazza Bra and Roman Arena. Although we became lost a couple of times, that was part of the fun; once we had our bearings, we realised what a convenient and interesting location the hotel enjoys within the Old City. Do have a meal at the Vecio Macello Ristorante just 2 mins away; great sea food and service. Thank you, all.

Unsure about the Best Western tag, but very pleased with the level of decor and the position of this hotel. Very well furnished with comfortable beds in very modern room, excellent bathroom with walk in shower and quality fittings. The breakfast was varied and plentiful, and receptionists helpful with good English.

This hotel was very nice and in a great location. The breakfast was great and the staff were friendly. The beds and rooms were very clean, however the marble floors in the hallway made it very loud in the morning and you could hear echoing in the hallways from bags rolling and people talking. Worth the price, but wish it would have been a little quieter.

Room Tip: Try to reserve a room far from the stairwell and elevator.

I couldn't think of anything negative to say about our stay at the Hotel Armando. Everything was perfect. Location is excellent, a mere few minutes on foot to Verona' most popular sights (Piazza Bra, Arena, Casa di Giulietta). The area where the hotel is located is pleasant and peaceful. Room is modern, spacious, and very clean. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and speak really good English. Breakfast is good, too.

If you are planning to go to Verona, I highly recommend Hotel Armando! First class rooms and service on a not-so-hefty rate :)

Stayed here as a couple for three days in late June, and chose it mainly because of positive reviews. Absolutely worth the price, a ten minutes walk to the most popular tourist areas, nice and quiet, and with a lovely wine bar and restaurant next door. Our room was reasonably spacious, the bed a little to hard for our tastes. Breakfast was good for such a small hotel, and even if I don't fancy all the sweet cakes that is common for breakfast here, there were plenty of other choices. Had to wait for a few minutes for a free table the last morning.

location of hotel is ideal short walk to the arena and the many restaurants, and verona is a great place to see on foot. the train station is a bit to far on foot especially in temperatures we had of 36c but a taxi just 10 mins for about 10 euro. the hotel we found to be basic but very clean
our room at the top of the hotel was spacious and had all we needed for a comfortable stay
the bed and pillows were on the hard side but this is only a minor criticism.and had a very nice bathroom
the desk staff were pleasant and answered all our enquiries, breakfast is very much only continental the nearest to cooked food was boiled eggs and toast but we had no problem with this. we had a very enjoyable stay and would have no hesitation going back again
