Best Western Hotel Armando
Ranked #23 of 77 Hotels in Verona
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed July 3, 2012

There are some small signs indicating the location of Hotel Armando once you get close, but it is off the beaten path. Historic old hotel with marble steps. Breakfast was varied and tasty. Location near the Roman arena and the medieval wall was a plus. Other sites, inclding Juliet's and Romeo's home were several blocks away. Our room was large and included a couch which alowed space to spread out. Receptionist service was very good.

Room Tip: Elevator is small but adequate, lower floors reduce stair-climbing

We recently visited Verona as a family group of five in two rooms. Everything exceeded our expectations from the pleasant rooms, to the comfortable beds, excellent air-conditioning during some very hot weather, to the sumptuous breakfast buffet. Antonell was extremely helpful and responsive to all our needs. Had a wonderful time staying here and will be sure to stay there again next time we visit the lovely city of Verona.

WE stayed at the Best Western Armando for three night at the end of May.
The Best Western Armando hotel is situated in a quite street very close to Arena di Verona and Piazza Bra. This ensures excellent public transport connections both to the train station and airport.
The hotel is in an old, typical looking buildig, but everything isnide is modern and new.
We stayed in a junior suite and could find nothing wrong! The two areas were well separated leaving the third person privacy accompanied with all the expected comfort. The bathroom was probably the biggest I had ever seen, almost the size of the bedroom itself, with all the amenities you could want.
The breakfast selection was ample and well presented.
We also used the small business center to print our boarding passes. It was very well set up and equipped.

The best though was the service provided by the extremely friendly staff. There was nothing we asked for or about that they did not try there best to ptovide us with. We asked for direcitions, maps, recommendations, even for change to pay our bus fares... The receptionsts ( I remeber one of them called Alexandra) did their best not only to help, but also make us comfortable in doing so, and really welcomed guests. Their saying: "we are here to help you" and doing it with a smile really made our stay a very pleasant experience.

Since we had breakfast included in the price but were leaving as early as 4.30 in the morning, we were offered coffee, drinks and snacks even at that hour!

We can only thank the staff again for all their professionalism and attitude and recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Verona with the conviction that they would not regret it.

I stayed at the Armando for 3 nights in early June. Firstly thanks to all previous TripAdvisors for the recommendation for the hotel and whose advice was spot on. The location is perfect, a quiet street but a short walk to the main square and all the sights.I cannot fault anything about the Armando, the place was spotless, staff excellent, breakfast good, bed comfortable and air con controlled in your room, always the best option. Verona is a very safe city and I never felt in any way nervous walking out late in the evening. I did not find eating expensive, perhaps as there is so much competition for your custom prices are reasonable. Although I know many advise against the idea, I took a day trip by train to Venice. This costs €38 using the Trenitalia website which I thought fair. I arrived at 10am and got a 7pm train back and I was happy that I saw as much of what is now a giant tourist park with a fading beauty.
A taxi from the train station costs €7 to €9 and is worth it if you have arrived on the Aero-bus at the train station with a suitcase. I would stay here again if I return.

Room Tip: I think I had room 196 which was on the side street and was very quiet, but both sides seemed to me...

This is a nice hotel in a good location to walk to all of the Verona sites. What makes this place great is the employees at the front desk. We asked a lot of questions and they always went above and beyond to help us out. This was true of any of the staff working any time of day or night. It was much appreciated!

Side note, the pizzeria in the courtyard a block behind the hotel has fantastic pizza!

We did not enjoy this room. It was antiquated and 1950's USA motel in appearance. The breakfast was very mediocre. The room was clean and the location was fine. The bed only had a sheet on it. Shower has a board to stand on. We do not recommend you stay here. The front desk, however, was friendly and polite. While Verona has a historic center with an old colosseum, the city did not impress us very much. Venice, Florence, Lucca, Bellagio and other cities are much more pleasant.

We regret that you haven't found our hotel liking. The hotel was completely renovated 3 years ago, is located in an old historical house but in a modern style. The buffet breakfast is continental and is both sweet and savory.
We are glad to have found our room clean and the staff very courteous.
Sorry that Verona has not fulfilled your expectations as the other cities listed by you and not to stay at our recommendations facility. We are nevertheless confident that you can come back another time so that we can demonstrate you our best efficiency and our service and maybe change your mind.
We are still at your disposal, and we appreciate the time devoted to us.

Just got back from a 3 day break with friends. We are 3 ladies of a certain age, who holiday on a regular basis. not exactly the "Golden Girls" but you can get the general idea! The Hotel is a short walk from Piazza Bra, where the Arena is. It is a very modern hotel, but if you are looking for a Hotel with a triple, room 103 is not the one for you. The room would have been great as a double, that was how the main bed was made up, and the third bed was a sofa bed that was on an angle. Not ideal but there was no point in complaining.
Breakfast was fine, The Hotel also has a bar but it is so small no one ever used it. The staff were helpful on reception..We arrived early as the room was not quite ready, went out sightseeing, and they were in our room when we returned. In all, it is a good base. It costs approx 30-35 euros to get from the airport to the hotel.
Verona is a beautifull small city, there is hop on and off bus that goes round the town, can I just advise you that you can hop off the bus, but it takes over an hour for the bus to return, as there are two routes but only one bus for each route, a full trip is approximately 1 hour. So perhaps it might be a good idea if you do a full circuit first, and then decide where you want to get off the bus.. We enjoyed walking round the city there's lots to see, well worth a visit.
