“A beautiful hotel in the heart of Verona”
Reviewed March 3, 2014

This unassuming hotel has its entrance door down a quiet alley/road. The reception staff are all delightful and go out of their way to be helpful - from checking and booking train tickets to suggesting places you might like to visit (if you want them to!) The bar staff are equally friendly and despite the expensive hotel - Prosecco is only €5 in the bar and is served with loads of nibbles! Our room was a good size and had a delightful balcony (had the weather been good enough to sit out!). - although, needless to say the view was not stunning - being in the middle of Verona! The bath room was lovely. There was a turn-down service and a bottle of water was provided for us both every night. On our first night, the wifi in the room was not working properly - but I reported it the next morning and it was repaired by the time we arrived back in the late afternoon. Breakfast was good - the usual array of fresh fruit, plenty of cakes (if that is what you like) and rolls and toast. Eggs etc were also made fresh to order. There was only one type of cheese and I would have preferred a greater variety there. We did not eat in the restaurant so cannot comment on that. We would certainly choose this hotel again if we go to Verona. Everything was within easy walking distance - although the station was a bit of a yomp - it took between 20 mins and half an hour (the weather was horrible!) But all restaurants, shops and sites were within easy reach.

The location is really great, you are about a 30 sec walk from the archway leading into the old town. The room was spotless and the bed comfy. The foyer is gorgeous and the staff are very friendly. The breakfast is amazing, although the service on one if the days was a bit slow. The food is sooo good, it is worth the wait. Recommendations from staff for other dining options at night are great. In particular do not leave verona without going to Antica Bottega del Vino. Omg! The food and the wine! We loved verona and this hotel is a definite.

We stayed at the Palazzo Victoria in Verona in August; we had tickets for two operas in the Arena and our son chose the hotel for its quality and position - it is just a few minutes walk from the Arena, in the ancient city. A true five star hotel, excellent in all respects. Our room was probably one of the smallest, but was plenty large enough for the king sized bed and several armchairs, and we had space to walk around. Breakfast was served in the characterful restaurant on the ground floor. This has several areas where the floor has been replaced by glass plate so that Roman mosaic floors can be seen floodlit below.
This is the only five star hotel where we have been served amuse bouche at breakfast; food is taken seriously here. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. The hotel restaurant is accessible to non-residents as "36 Borsari". I have reviewed this separately as a restaurant.

Room Tip: The hotel's website shows some very large rooms but all are luxurious, even the smallest. The ho...

Dear Visitor,
As you have rightly pointed out the food is taken very seriously by us, we always want to be very careful in the selection of raw materials to offer to our guests: a royal residence starts also by the taste buds.
We are sincerely glad to know that we were up to your expectations, giving you the chance to enjoy the authentic and priceless Roman ruins we host.
Hoping to welcome you again in Verona,
I extend a warm greeting.

My family and I used to live and work in Verona and after a week's skiing in the Dolomites at half term we revisited the city last weekend, staying here for two nights and had a wonderful time. A fabulous location moments from Porta Borsari and Piazza Erbe, the hotel is a marvellous mix of contemporary and classical that simply works. It's hard to describe. Not shabby chic but not like similar starred/priced hotels where you'd be scared to speak beyond a whisper lol.

Excellent location, excellent parking facilities, excellent bar, excellent staff, we found everyone to be extremely courteous and helpful. Great food that's reasonably priced, you can see the chefs at work and I particularly enjoyed Sunday brunch which offered a wide range of delicious food (the restaurant and bar are open to residents and non-residents alike which seems a new and welcome phenomenon in Italy). Breakfast was great with lots to choose from. We tried poached eggs (divine) with scrummy salsicce and my children really enjoyed the fruit and pancakes with Nutella.

So if you can't stretch to actually staying there, you can enjoy the bar and restaurant without the fear of being asked for your room number lol.

No hotel at the heart of Verona can promise that you won't be disturbed by the odd passing late night reveller but guests can always close the shutters to minimise further their impact. The reception wall area is - as another reviewer mentions I think - unexpected but once you've been to Juliet's balcony you realise why what's there is there. Leave your own mark! And the lounge area beyond main reception is fab. The nearby bar team prepares THE best G&T I've ever tasted in Italy (if you don't dare try a Spritz Aperol). There's a great pool table too. We received a very warm welcome and paperwork was handled on arrival and departure with the minimum of fuss and/or delay. As far as sightseeing is concerned, you couldn't be better placed. Everything is accessible from the Victoria.

We stayed two nights - the Palazzo Victoria is very centrally located in the heart of the old city. We walked everywhere from the hotel including the 10 min walk to the opera in the Arena di verona. The rooms are stylish and match the surrounding of the city. They have ample space and are filled with books and pictures from the history of this interesting city. The service at this hotel was excellent as the manager even provided us a map of where to visit in the city from her personal favourites. The hotel public spaces such as the bar and the foyer are stunning with a style all of their own.

Stayed here 3 nights, finding the hotel was very easy. It’s at the far end, away from the hassle and bassle of tourists, restaurants and all, right around the corner at Piazza Victoria which is beautiful and quiet.
We were welcomed with a glass of fresh cold juice as our bags were taken to our room. We got a room on the first floor; our room had two narrow long doors facing the square which was lovely. Beautiful room, big enough, bathroom was just right; there was turn down service as well in the evenings, just lovely. The bed was so comfy, i loved the beds!
However… there were renovations or ongoing construction on within the building that ruined our morning snooze. Approx between 7.30, 8.00 am and 9.30 am, we heard drilling and hammering sounds next door like they were coming from right out the hall…ya, i know someone might say but you are supposed to be up by that time…No, not us, we like our quiet mornings when we are on vacation, just to sleep in, take it easy in peace and quiet before we eat breakfast! Hmm
So we called the front desk and they said that it was not the hotel doing the construction work, rather the shops next door. They were very helpful and asked if we would like to move to another room on the other side of the hotel building. So we moved to a suit, the bedroom was smaller than our previous room but it served the purpose just fine and then we had some fairly good morning sleep…
Breakfast was good, simple in some way but not too basic. They served whatever kinds of eggs however you liked them on request, the service was great, these guys know how to do their jobs and go an extra mile.
The service at the check in and check out was smooth, everyone was friendly and we left happy satisfied quests.
So I definitely recommend this hotel without a doubt.

Room Tip: I recommend the rooms facing the square because the one we had felt specious and i loved it.

Dear Guest,
I would like to thank you for your review.
It's a pleasure reading that the room that we reserved for you was to your liking: every single room of our hotel is different, the one from the other to underline this unique value.
On the other hands, I'm sincere sorry for the renovation works that took place during your stay: unfortunately we have to proceed in some case as we're based in the city center and this is the only way to always be able to offer the best service to our guest. The only thing we can do is to be sure that the working timetable will be observed.
Despite of this drawback I really hope to be considered your second choice in Verona, once again, to be able to service you at the best of our possibility very soon.
My best regards,
Giusy Loro
