“Perfect location, lovely room”
Reviewed May 19, 2013

With faultless directions provided by the hotel, we parked outside and were able to forget about the car until we left. The welcome at reception was superb and when we were taken to our room we found that we had been upgraded to a suite. A large bedroom, separate sitting room with balcony, two televisions (!), bath/shower room with WC and wash basin as well as a separate WC with hand basin.

The hotel is right in the middle of the old part of Verona, easy walking to almost all of the places one would want to visit on a short break. Clearly in a very old building, the hotel’s rooms and public areas are all very smart, stylish and modern. In the restaurant there are glass panels in the floor where you can see through to some parts of the structure that must have been there a very long time (my guess, since roman times).

The restaurant is open to the kitchen and serves interesting and delicious dishes with pride. On our second evening we had three amuses-bouches as well as a watermelon sorbet before dessert. There is a very comprehensive wine list as well. Breakfast is an array of choices, all beautifully presented, with plenty of staff on hand to clear away used dishes, etc.

A well-run hotel, fully deserving its four stars.

We had a great time in Verona, and really enjoyed our stay at this lovely hotel in the heart of the city. It is stylish, with a quirky taste (very 1970's) that the Italians do so well. Our room was spacious and cool, overlooking the courtyard. The bathroom had both a bath and shower, with a large basin and plenty of free soaps and gels provided. The mini bar was well stocked and the prices reasonable, and there was a kettle with plenty of coffee and tea for us. We arrived late in the day, so decided on supper in the hotel restaurant, which was superb (homemade pasta cooked in the open kitchen), and the prices were extremely reasonable. The breakfasts were sumptuous, with lots of juices, yogourts, breads, fresh fruits, jams, cheeses, meats, croissants and anything hot was cooked to order by the chefs. The hotel staff were all helpful and friendly, although they do not have stamps at reception, we had to buy them at the tabac down the street. The only problem we had concerned the room cleaning arrangements. We spent 5 hours each morning and early afternoon in Verona itself, then came back to the room in the afternoon for a snooze, but this always coincided with the cleaning team wanting to clean the room. The upshot was that our room was not thoroughly cleaned in 3 days, and the basin in the bathroom remained quite dirty (as the water drained away very slowly from both bath and basin). Other than this minor gripe, this was a super hotel in just the right location to discover Verona.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the courtyard, they are quiet and cooler

The Palazzo Victoria is a true gem in the heart of the beautiful city of Verona Italy! The hotel is absolutely AMAZING. The General Manager Giusy Loro is one of the kindest people I have ever met. She made our stay one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had, if not the best! Honestly we were treated like celebrities and we felt like Cinderella at the ball. It is worth every penny to stay at the Palazzo Victoria! I cannot wait to return to the city of Verona and stay at Palazzo Victoria.

Perfect location, close to everything, and on a quiet side street. Beautifully renovated, it was worth a little splurge at the end of our two week stay in Italy, even though slightly overpriced for the size of the room. Verona is a gem, lots to see and do, but in a smaller venue, not nearly as overrun by tourists as Venice. The hotel also offered a generous, complete and diverse breakfast to get you going.

We were very pleased with the hotel. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The room was spacious and enjoyed our dog. As others have said, the location is excellent. I recommend it for a very pleasant stay.
Caution 1: GPS doesn't work in the city center. Too many one-way streets. The City changes the direction from time to time, and the GPS cannot keep up. So, if driving your own car, drive as far as the city center, and then telephone the hotel. The staff can give you very good directions.
Caution 2: Be sure to book a reservation for your car if you want to use the hotel's garage.
Caution 3: The breakfast is large, delicious, and included in the hotel price. The servers are very pleasant. However, they are young, and apparently like loud pop music. Anyone over 30 will not enjoy eating in the breakfast room.

A great hotel with a friendly staff. My only complaint was the ac had not been turned on yet and the room got a bit warm in the afternoon. The staff was kind and found a fan for us and that made it bearable. Every hotel we stayed in on this trip had not turned on the ac or the city govt. had not approved the use of the ac., so it really was not a big negative. The restaurant was exceptional!

We spent 4 nights here and on the whole, this was a very pleasant stay. The staff are all pleasant and helpful, some more than others, but no complaints. It was quite expensive, but this is Verona! Location was excellent for walking everywhere central. Breakfast excellent, plentiful and good choices. The servers for breakfast were very good.

Our room (with a balcony) was an adequate size but the bathroom was small with only a shower and no bath and the shower was tiny. Not sure how larger people would cope with this. There was no conditioner and when requested we were told that they don't supply it and maybe we could try the supermarket along the street - that was not really acceptable for this grade of hotel. The bed was excellent, the room quiet and we slept very well. No complaints there.

The room was on the dark side and I found myself going out onto the balcony to apply make-up each day, luckily the weather was fine. Do take a magnifying mirror if you would normally use one as there is not one in the bathroom.

There was coffee (no decaff and non available when requested) and tea available in the room, but, as previous reviewers have stated, the cups were not washed and coffee not re-stocked.
We decided to sleep without the air conditioner as it was very noisy and that was fine for us but maybe in the height of summer would be a concern.

This was a very beautiful hotel and we enjoyed our stay, but would only stay again if the price was right.
