“Best Negronis in Italy!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2013

Veteran bartender Franco Capone makes by far and away the best Negronis in all of Italy. My wife and I spent quite a few hours being refreshed by Franco who is not only an excellent mixologist but a wonderful warm human being. His presence and performance illuminates the charming and historic Due Torri Hotel adjoining San Anastasia Piazza in the romantic city of Verona, Italy.

on this family vacation we decided to make Verona the base in exploring the northern region of Italy.

The Due torri is without a doubt one of the best hotels I've visited in Europe. Location is perfectly situated at the walking area, right at St. Anastasia square. Although the property didn't have parking in the property, valet parking is available. From the very second I parked the car in front of the hotel, there was the valet man opened the trunk and unloaded the bags and promptly took my keys and took care of the car.

The place felt like a medieval palace. Our junior suite also had that 14th century ambiance and the only thing that made you feel like you were back in the 21st. century was the flat screen T.V.

Bathroom had all the amenities plus a lot more than expected. Like hygiene wash in the bidet and a make up remover pad dispenser. The all brass fixture bathroom was impressive even the heated brass towel holder with period valves. The only hitch was the pillow which my son and I found strange it had a hard foam lump in the middle. I would've expected goose down. Also the wifi on the 2nd flr died on the 4th day of our 5 day stay and was never restored.

I had one dinner in the place and the food and service was perfect can't ask for more. Bfast was good and they had, in my opinion, the best cappuccino in town.

What shocked me in this place was the public men's rest room. There were 7 cubicles complete with toilet, bidet and sinks. Never have I seen anything like it.

As far as 5 star hotels are concerned I believe this is the best Verona can offer.

Stayed in this hotel for 4 nights as part of a group. First, the location is great, near to all the major sites. It is right beside the St. Anastasia church, which is the biggest church in Verona. Room was the right size, and was quiet because it was not facing the street, and bed was comfortable. Bathroom was well lighted and counter had enough space for our personal toiletries. I still don't understand, though, why European hotels have their shower areas with such narrow enclosure- occupies just about 1/3 of the shower area, and so everytime you take a shower, the whole bathroom floor gets wet!!
Anyway, breakfast was great, and all in all, service was good.

We stayed here for 3 nites in late September; beautiful ,old hotel in an excellent location.....
walking distance to everything . The staff was great & breakfast buffet superb .
Our next stop was a few days in Sirmione ; the hotel offered to drive us to Sirmone for
the price of a taxi !
We will definitely stay at the Due Torri on our next visit to Verona.

Room Tip: Visit the roof top restraurant for lunch

This is a beautiful hotel. We stayed here as part of a tour group and could not fault anything about the hotel. Lovely rooms, wonderful bedlinen and towels changed several times a day. Excellent breakfasts. Service was exceptional. The one thing that really struck me about the hotel was how happy the staff were and how obviously proud they were to be working there. Congratulations to the management and staff on such an excellent hotel.

We just returned from a magical week at the Due Torri hotel in Verona. If you are driving, be aware that finding the hotel is a hair raising experience. It is located in the ancient section of Verona, where the streets (can you even call something that narrow a street?) are so narrow, that we debated several times whether the car would even fit! An impatient honk from behind convinced us that, holding our breath, we had to proceed. Oh, and did I mention that all the streets are one way? The first time you come face to face with an oncoming car, you learn to look carefully for the one way signs!
Finally arriving at the hotel, I felt like a queen returning from battle. The palace is located in a delightful small piazza, with the requisite ancient church, just a block away from the river .... It was so perfect, I felt like I was on a movie set. The hotel has been renovated with modern conveniences, but retains an authentic old world feel. The staff greeted us like old friends and the check in procedure was quick and efficient. The room..... was magical! The white marble bathroom with beautiful inlays, was very large and included (besides all the amenities you expect in a five star hotel) a magnifying make up mirror and a night light- very important for those of us who travel often and make middle of the night runs to the bathroom! The closet room (yes, it was a whole other room) was also fit for a queen. And the view from our (top floor) balcony.... what can I say? It promised a dream come true, a return back in time and a magical vacation.
Our hotel package included breakfasts (lovely), 1 dinner (divine) and 1 drink (a delicious apple martini for me and an authentic Long Island Iced Tea for my discriminating husband).
We had no set plans for our week in Verona, so we asked the front desk lady to organize a tour of a parmesan making facility and a balsamic making tour (a nice day trip about an hour and a half from Verona). She worked diligently, made many calls and arranged fantastic tours in English for the following day.
All in all, our vacation was heightened by the impeccable service, dedication to guest experience and genuine friendliness of the Due Torri staff. If money is no object.... Due Torri is the place to be!
