the hotel was nice enough. breakfast was great.
we had a problem with a leaky air conditioner, and they promptly changed our room even though it was 1:30am (we'd just gotten home from the opera) and the guy didn't speak english. so the service was great.
we rented bikes from them for 3 euro each for the whole day and it took about 15 minutes to get downtown on them.. I'd highly suggest that option if it appeals to you!!
overall, worth what we paid for it. if you're coming in by train, be sure to check the bus systems before arriving as it is quite far from the termini.

The Maxim is a nice four star hotel approximately 30 minutes by feet away from the city center of Verona. The rooms are very spacious and provide all necessary amenities such as hair dryer, mini bar, bath tub, SKY television etc. WiFi is provided as well, but not for free.

Breakfast is served as buffet with a nice choice of cereals, ham, cheese, scrambled eggs, etc. An underground parking is available and may be used for free by hotel guests.
If you are the picky traveler type you might notice that the hotel had its adolescent times approximately 25 years ago. At some places in the hotel you can see the years.

However, everything is very clean and compliant with what you would expect from a four star hotel.

Slightly out of Verona centre but only a cheap10 minute bus ride away, do not use taxi service far too dear. Clean place, GREAT BREAKFAST. CANT COMPLAIN ABOUT ANYTHING BUT DONT FORGET TO BRING YOUR TRAVEL IRON AS they charge 7\10 EURO FOR EACH ITEM that they iron for you. Friendly staff especially Luigi the hotel barman. Super market right at the corner. Good spot.

we were there for the opera festival. we booked through hotels.com for 3 nights in June, total came to £240 pounds. Location was a concern at first, but it was actually easy as verona is small and relatively easy to find a bus stop for buses that would stop at via zeviani. Otherwise, it is also a 20 minute walk from Porto Vescovo. Cab was 9 euros from piazza erbe at 2am, which wasn't too bad.
Room - clean and tidy, with good solid furniture, decor was nothing to shout about. fridge was well stock and working. all switches and climate control was also working. No iron, but had hair dryer, full range of toiletries, toothbrush and room slippers. we didn't use the room service but enjoyed the breakfast spread of cereal, fruit, bacon, eggs and assorted pastries. staff were busy but very friendly and courteous. there is free wifi in the breakfast room, but charges apply elsewhere.
Lift was working and reception helpful when we wanted to mark down interesting sights and good restaurants. the shuttle bus was reliable too, and took us to town centre and then back again from the Arena after the opera for 6 euros per person for a return trip.

one negative was that it was unable to provide an iron on request. and its standard maps are very poor with no landmarks shown.
