“Not quite the Four stars!”
Reviewed July 9, 2014

This hotel is relatively modern and not quite what we were expecting from a four star hotel, maybe equal to three but some nice touches.
The bedroom was on the top floor and large but only had one desk chair with no comfortable seating or side table. We lay on the bed to read our books later in the afternoon ( before our evening out!) The shower room was OK (no bath) and again spacious but starting to look a bit tired. In the bedroom the three legnths of wall paper had come away from the ceiling down (may be as a result of a roof problem?) and had been stuck back up but it was still discoloured and you could see where it had been re-glued. The toiletries were nice but other than that, there were no other touches; no pictures, the bed was not dressed etc. Tea & coffee were provided in the room which is quite rare in Europe and appreciated.
Breakfast was the usual continental selection and there was no table service at all. Wander in, find your own seat get your own tea and coffee etc. We did like the outdoor restaurant area for breakfast and it is a shame it cannot be accessed at any other time of day. There is no restaurant service offered and the bar is only open 7.0pm - 10.0pm so don't return in the evening thinking of a drink before retiring! The reception staff were adequate and it depended who was on duty what sort of service was offered. We said we would like a hire car for a day and were just shown on the map where to find them. When we returned later that morning (without car) and said that there were no rental cars available and actually requested the staff to ring the hire car company for us to get one for the next day, they did and we had the car! Shame they didn't offer to ring in the first place!

I stayed in this hotel for a short business trip (2 nights). My original preference was for another hotel but since it was fully booked I decided to stay here, mainly because it seemed to be centrally located. It's really true. Location is the sweet spot of this hotel, just 5-10 minutes walk from any Verona hotspots (Arena, Piazza delle Erbe, etc). Apart from location (excellent, central but out easy to reach with cabs and cars), the hotel is just average for being a 4 star premise. Room are spacious, for European standards, and very clean but furniture and bathroom may need some refresh. Not that they are bad or consumes, it's just that everything look old and the bathroom especially is not what you expect. For istance instead of a glass, you have a plastic curtain in the bath, which i really hate since it tends to stick to your body when you shower. Also amenities in the bathroom are at most average, for istance paper tissues were missing and soap was quite cheap. TV set, while is a flat screen, was quite old and antenna was not working properly so that i need to use a bandaid to stick it in a position to that it could work (!!).
Breakfast is average too, pretty decent for an Italian (you have SAECO coffe and cappuccino machines, which are quite nice; and some good pastries) but not many options, so while everything was good quality, variety was poor and definitely Giberti doesn't rank in the list of the best breakfast in 4 star hotels.
Conclusion: decent business hotel, excellent location but not the best in value terms.

We were in Verona for an opera performance. This hotel is ideally located, especially if you are driving. Ample car parking, and 10 min walk to arena. We stayed in superior room, and couldn't fault facilities. Huge beds, spotless bathrooms with jacuzzi baths. Good air conditioning: remember it switches off if you open a window though! No street noise and adequate buffet breakfast. We would use again next time we visit for the opera.

My wife and I have just returned from a 3 night stay in Hotel Giberti and both thought it was a great base for a visit to Verona. We had a standard room which was well furnished and kept in very good order by the housekeeping staff. The reception staff were exceptionally helpful and even allowed us to extend our departure time to suit our flight home. We booked the hotel as part of a British Airways package; so we are unsure of how much the hotel cost, but it felt like good value for money!

Room Tip: We were at the back of the hotel and it was very quiet overnight even with the window cracked open

Just a 20 minute taxi ride in from the airport (four-up as cheap as the shuttle bus) Giberti is of a good size, not too big, not too small, so you get good personal service. Reception staff were very helpful; sorted out a log-in wi-fi problem on the i-Pad, provided a plug adaptor and a range of local travel advice which made our stay. Room was nicely equipped and furnished and the bathroom worked well. Air-conditioning coped with 35 degrees outside.

My wife and I cannot complain at all about this hotel.
Our room was on the 1st floor facing the road, there was some traffic noise of course, but not a lot.
We did not use all of the facilities available, (hence 4 out of 5), as we wanted to explore Verona, go to Venice and Lake Garda, both are easily reached by train.
We were there for 7 nights, and enjoyed every minute of our stay.
The reception staff were all extremely helpful, and the their English was very good. Giorgia was especially helpful, she was very good.
If you want to go on any tours, our advice is to book them when you get there, we didn't and was too late to go on the ones we would have liked.
