Owner description: Situated behind the busy Piazza Erbe, this central square is dominated by a Dante statue made in 1865 plus two buildings built by Palladio, the Palazzo della Raggione and the Loggia del Capitanato.

There are two restaurants here - a good, cheap one and a grossly over-priced not so good one (though highly recommended on this site). Don't bother with Caffe Dante - it's not particularly good.
The Piazza has what was the town hall on one side, and there's a huge clock tower that you can go up (in a lift) to a viewing platform. The view - day or night - is superb.
The old town hall also has a Roman and photographic museum - well worth a visit.

As in all Italian cities the centre of history and a place where folk gather to eat and share. Lots of activities on the weekends for locals so a busy place.

This Piazza altough being just nearby the Erbe is much quieter. If you want to avoid the tourists and enjoy yourselves in a peacefull environment, maybe this is the place for you. I remember enjoying very tasty food in one of the restaurants in the piazza.

Quieter and smaller than Piazza delle Erbe, this piazza is just as atmospheric , with a refined and visually attractive ensemble of buildings and monuments which are of great historical and architectural importance.

The Palazzo della Ragione ( now City Hall) , the Loggia del Consiglio, the Palace of the Government, the House of Piety, the Arch , Dante Monument , alongside Verona's oldest cafe -- Caffe Dante. It reminded me of a theatre set, waiting for a performance to begin.

Caffe Dante has tables outside and it would be great to sit here for a couple of hours with a drink and a book, simply taking it all in. Unfortunately we could not do that for lack of time -- next time for sure! There is also another restaurant at the piazza where Maria Callas was a regular , with a huge picture of her -- you can't miss it.

This is the Piazza just behind the Erbe and although as central it is just a little quieter. This is where Restaurante Dante is which is very good. Great for eating outside day or night.
