Quieter and smaller than Piazza delle Erbe, this piazza is just as atmospheric , with a refined and visually attractive ensemble of buildings and monuments which are of great historical and architectural importance.
The Palazzo della Ragione ( now City Hall) , the Loggia del Consiglio, the Palace of the Government, the House of Piety, the Arch , Dante Monument , alongside Verona's oldest cafe -- Caffe Dante. It reminded me of a theatre set, waiting for a performance to begin.
Caffe Dante has tables outside and it would be great to sit here for a couple of hours with a drink and a book, simply taking it all in. Unfortunately we could not do that for lack of time -- next time for sure! There is also another restaurant at the piazza where Maria Callas was a regular , with a huge picture of her -- you can't miss it.
