Visiting Verona one of the best e place to visit is absolutely the 'Piazza delle Erbe". The oldest square of Verona.

Verona is a very charming city, and the Piazza delle Erbe is definitely a must-see, and quite a charming piazza too. Very beautiful buildings, especially the clock tower, and easy access to a lot of other sights in the area.

This area of the city is beautiful with of course lots of interesting buildings that surround the area. Then the market place shops are set up selling a large variety of items and souvenirs ready for the purchase and taking. It was a fun place to purchase items that are native to the area and Italy. Beautiful items displayed nicely at all the shops. And of course food items for your lunch or snacks or whatever.

In terms of its range of architecture and monuments this is clearly Verona's most interesting square, although perhaps Piazza dei Signori is more elegant. Well worth a walk around to inspect each building as well as to check out the fascinating variety of monuments. And of course one of the great places in Verona for coffee or lunch. I have to say though (and I'm sure I won't be the first to say it), I cannot understand why the Commune has approved all the market stalls. They really do ruin the views and the sense of space, and given that most of what they sell is tat it hardly fits in with the quality image that Verona otherwise easily communicates to tourists. But that aside, a lovely public space and for the historians amongst us the sense of the continuity from when it was the Roman Forum is very appealing.
