Owner description: It's no wonder that this is one of the most historic and picturesque squares in Italy: in antiquity, it served as a Roman forum; today, it contains many historic buildings, sculptures with a popular and colorful market overflowing with fresh fruits and vegetables.

“Charming, lovely, historic”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

Do some art history brush up or bring your guide book. THe buildings around this square are worth a second and third look. THe center of the square has a market and to the side of the square is a superlative gelato store

“Relaxing”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

Lovely place to relax in and watch the world go by. Sat by the fountain under the tower several evenings and really enjoyed the ambience. Restaurants not badly priced for a drink and of course you can linger!

“Cheap eats of varied value”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

Except for the excellent Maffei at the end of the Piazza, the rest of the cafes and bars are a mixed lot... some good, some awful.. all rather uninspiring although the one nearest the Juliet balcony end has some excellent local wines at reasonable prices

“Heart of Verona!”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

Piazza Erbe is considered the heart of Verona. It's surrounded by retail stores, cafes, restaurants, and in the center, a fountain and steps that people are always walking around - and also features Verona's main flea market stand. When the city gets warmer, the stands start to sell food and fruit cups (don't buy the 3 euro cups! They go down to 2 euros as you go further into the stands). The square itself is rich in history and it's worth having a guide explain the significance of the buildings and the frescos you see on some of the buildings.
