“The only way to tour Verona on the cheap!”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

We first encountered the "On-Off Buses" in Barcelona, Spain and we are SOLD on this simple and very effective tourist experience.

The Verona On-Off Bus can be boarded at several stops all over Verona, but across from the main train station is the best location. We purchased a two day pass for about $30 Euro and had a ball!

The buses are double-decker with stairs that are easy to climb. Great shooting platforms for photographers. You climb aboard, get a pair of ear buds handed to you, find a seat and then plug your buds into the guided tour audio player by selecting the flag of your country or language. Easy!

In each city there is a minimum of two different routes and anywhere between 10-15 stops along the way. The best way to do it we found is to ride an entire route without getting off so you can learn about the history of the city. Then take a second trip and jump off at the stops you circled during your first trip around the city. The buses are great about picking you up every 15-30 mins. You just have to look at the bus schedule to know when.

In Florence, make sure that you take the two different routes (Red and Blue) that take you along the Arno River and then the longer route that takes you out into the Verona neighborhoods.

The On-Off Buses are one of the most interesting and informative attractions in any city where you find them. Cheap, efficient, educational, fun and kid friendly. Enjoy! Ciao.

“Good way to get your bearings”
Reviewed June 15, 2013

Verona is a beautiful city, it is relatively small, but if like us you are only there for a few days it is highly probable that you will miss lots of it if you don't take advantage of this hop on hop off bus which give a really good overview of the city (a couple of different routes) and therefore allows you to maximise your time there. On one of the routes you are taken to the top of the hill and it stops for a few minutes to allow you to get off and take some photos - at this point you see the whole city below you and the view is great. I would strongly advise however that you get off the bus at this point and wait the half hour for the next one and pop into the cafe that is there - I expected that given it is the only place for miles, and it has a captive audience that it would be very expensive to eat - however I was wrong - very reasonably priced and quality was good.

“The Diamond”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

Besides Florence (Firenze) and Venice (Venezia) probably the most beautiful town in Italy. The whole old city is a monument with all its artistic heritage and renaissance architecture. The Adige river embraces the nucleus of the city forming an unique and splendid area of glorious past. The Arena, Piazza delle Erbe, Piazza dei Signori, Ponte Scaligero, Palazzo Vecchio and so many more are breathtaking scenery. If you plan on visiting Italy don't miss to see this diamond of culture and history.

“Great to get your bearings”
Reviewed March 22, 2013

We are big fans of this type of trip and generally take them in most cities we visit to give us our bearings. In this respect it didn't fail. For your 18 euros you get unlimited hop on hop offs on the 2 tours. Line A takes you round most of the accessible major sites in the old town whilst Line B takes you to the other side of the Adige. The big benefit of this tour is the views of the city and the mountains from Stop 5 Santuario Madonna di Lourdes. The bus stops here for 5 mins which is enough time for the photo opportunities.
However it only gets 3 stars as the commentary is taped (headphones are provided but take your own for comfort) and much of this is duplicated on either tour. Compared to tours in other cities it doesn’t match our expectations of the brand.
