B&B Castelvecchio
Ranked #129 of 433 Verona B&B and Inns
Reviewed May 6, 2014

I've stayed at a number of B&B's throughout Europe the past few years. These are some standards to evaluate them on:

- Communication (English speaking, responsive emails)
- Breakfast (fresh or packaged, variety)
- Cleanliness/attractiveness
- Helpfulness (Restaurant recommendations, city knowledge)
- Location (distance from train station and city center)
- Friendly welcoming
- Fast and reliable Wi-FI

This B&B hit the mark on all of the above except for maybe the breakfast as it was catered to a Italian palette.

Room Tip: May want to specify if you want 2 twin beds or 1 queen.

Stayed here in Feb 2014. The B&B was great value for money and very comfortable. We had plenty of room, tea and coffee when we wanted, plenty of hot water and great service from our host Giulia. It wasn't the most luxurious of B&Bs but for young travellers it couldn't have been better.

This was a great find in Verona - Giulia was an amazing host from start to finish. She and her boyfriend were very helpful, giving us advice and telling us about the city. It was in a very convenient location, within easy walking distance to the Arena and lots of shops and restaurants. It was also such good value and a great size - I stayed in the twin room and it was big enough for 2 people, also there were 2 bathrooms shared amongst 3 rooms but it was never busy so it was great. It was a nice atmosphere and a lovely place to stay whilst in Verona.

We had a hard time getting hotels under 150$ that weren't littered with bad reviews from tripadvisor. This B&B was half the price but in the same location as the hotels I looked into. I knew what to expect as far as sharing baths with other guests however I was unprepared for No Air Conditioning. If AC is important to you, than don't come here. If AC is not important than this is a great room for a 1-2 day short trip in Verona.

I think is rather the guesthouse than B&B. It is big flat with 4 rooms and shared kitchen and 2 shared bathrooms. Gulia was nice but her boyfriend even more and he told us very lot about city. The breakfast is self service and the choice is very simple. Best think is location. Supermarket is really close and main square with arena about 5 minute walk.

Giulia, the owner of this B&B, is the most passionate, helpful, kind, tourist-friendly person there might be on the hospitality industry! She runs her B&B with such a high level of service that made us feel as comfortable as staying a couple days at your best friend's house. She is an example to many other places of how should you treat your guests.

In addition to that, the B&B is very well-located, very near to CastelVecchio itself and Piazza Brà, in the heart of the city.

When we go back to Verona, we'll definitively stay there again!

Room Tip: The room after the second bathroom is not suitable for couples, as it can just hold 2 single beds. A...

We were after a cheap place to stay at Easter and most places had hiked their prices up that we were struggling. Stumbled across this place and the email exchanges were so helpful that we decided to book. Location wise, perfect. It's down the little street next to McDonalds, steps away from the bridge and clock, 5 minutes walk to the arena in an area we felt was safe. You could also carry straight down the street and come out at Castelvecchio Castle near street Roma. We were allowed to arrive early after arriving on the overnight train from Paris and leave our bags. The directions given from the train station were accurate and it took about a 15-20 minute walk.

We had booked the twin room at the bottom of the corridor and the room felt homely and was clean as was the whole apartment. It was free fast wifi with a computer and printer also available for use in the apartment My only criticism was that the room itself was a little cold, particularly on the first night when the weather was cold and the radiator didn't seem to get very warm and the duvet wasn't very thick, however we only had this problem for one night, either it got warmer or we got use to the temperature in Verona. The bathrooms are shared between the three rooms, one has a bath with shower over it, and another has a shower cubicle. We had to wait once for a bathroom free in three days, so not too bad and the bathrooms were always clean and well maintained (toilet rolls, soap, etc).

Breakfast is 'self service' and there was bread, croissants, yoghurts, plenty of choice and free tea and coffee throughout the day. It was also nice that there was a selection of herbal and fruit teas available. Advice about bus stops, places to visit and restaurants were helpful and we felt 'at home' throughout our stay.

Our only disturbances were when two guests came home at mid-night turned and were singing and cooking toast when we were just in bed sleeping (or trying to), and perhaps our own fault, but we hadn't locked our door and one of the guests entered our room accidentally (I think they got mixed up thinking our room was the bathroom)! Perhaps for the sake of guests that want a hostel or 'party; atmosphere, the owner may need some very basic rules or respectful behaviour guidelines for some guests. I guess it is hard to control your guests behaviour, but this is not a criticism of the B&B. Other guests we encountered we respectful and quiet.

I'd come back to this B&B again, we really enjoyed our stay in Verona.

Hello! thank you for your nice review! it has been a pleasure to host you girls!
for the heater is really strange because the heating is really high, usually around 24 degrees, but it may be the radiator off and then you turn it back on..? anyway next time ask me, even just for another duvet =)
for the other guests I am sorry for the mistake of rooms and for the noise.. It's hard to meet everyone needs..
anyway I am happy you had overall a nice stay and I'm really happy you wrote such a nice review! hope to meet you again.. Giulia
